That looks like a nice ride. Unfortunately, it's a little too close to the Ride to Marion, which I think is two days later. I hope you guys have great weather; it looks like it will be great scenery.

It is that time of year again!!! http://www.heritagealliance.org/MMBikeRide.html

June 6. Lovely ride, excellent support and a feast at the end. Not to mention free tours of the mill. Who could ask for more???

Anyone going?

Will have to check into this one - sounds like a great ride. Did I miss it or is there a map of the routes for the various rides available. PM's are open if someone's got one they'd just rather not post openly.

There is a map on the Hickory Velo Club site: http://www.hickoryveloclub.com/routes/murrays_mill_map.pdf

There is also a cue sheet on that site.

Yes I did and I looked for you too. I suffered through the 63 miles in 3:30. I need to get back into shape. Nice day to ride though!

OH, you must mean Weebly Wobbly, or Very Scary Hairy Man or Stinky... he has several names. Yes, he is a bit odd. He's incredibly strong (in both the olfactory and muscle areas), but is hard to ride with. We all just groan a bit when he shows up for our rides.

You'll have to put Brett's Ride on your calendar for October!

I had the same time.....but the group I hooked up with took a 15 min break at the mill before starting the second loop. Good roads and fun route.

I'll keep it in mind. Hopefully I'll be back in shape by then.

Neal and I went over to Asheville today for the Fletcher Flyer century. I had to dial it back a bit but we finished with a ride time just over 6 hours. Total time was more because we stopped at every rest stop.

Per my Garmin today:

Distance: 100.63 miles
Ride Time: 6:15
Ave. Speed: 16.1 mph
Elev. Gain: 4688'

Both days this weekend were nice. The weather could not have been better. Backing off the pace allowed us to enjoy the ride more. A nice break from the constant strain of trying to hold on to a fast group - which often ends up in vain. It was nice getting home and not feeling so zonked.

Both events were supported well. Lunch at Murray Mill was particularly good as everything was home made. The pound cake reminded me of when my mother used to make them from the bottom up. It was first rate. Everything was very good.

165 miles over two days. I'm happy. Next stop, Tellico Plains in two weeks.

A few pictures of today's ride:

I think they said about 750 riders showed up which made this their largest turnout ever for this event.

Saw a lot of horse farms. I guess "farmette" is the proper term.

One of the few pictures I've taken while holding the camera backwards that came out Ok. Usually they are skewed because I don't hold it level.
