Commuting - One For The DC Folks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Do any of you happen to commute to downtown DC from the Northeast, Catholic U/Brookland area? Always curious about what routes people find the best for that part of town.
Thanks!
I live right near the Brookland Metro station and work the Washington Post. My commute route is west on Michigan Ave>left on First St NW (@ Wash. Hospital Center)> right On Rhode Island Ave.>left on 15th st> L st NW. Going home is variety of ways including following the route to work home and east on Rhode Island Ave to 10th st. NE to my home on Perry Pl.
That is the route I used to take. I now take 10th st. to Franklin, right on Franklin and then left on Michigan. This way I avoid the whole Michigan/Irving snafu. I also snake through the neighborhoods off of first and hit Rhode Island at about fifth st NW.
Thanks for the input!

Interesting, I was contemplating the Michigan/Irving confluence today...that deal is way to dangerous for a bicycle. Your way seems safer and Franklin has a nice little hill there by the cemetary

I use Franklin to cross the red line, but I avoid Michigan by taking a street on the south side of the reservoir/waterworks area and pick up Vermont near Howard U.
