I'm buying my first road bike soon. I really only know that I want a cyclocomputer that has an odometer, speedometer, and trip time. Also, I'm not looking for something that will cost me alot of money

There are a lot of choices- kinda bewildering, huh?
Recommendation 1. You'll get more bang for your buck with a wired unit, as opposed to wireless. More reliable too.(remember Murphy?)
After I bought a nice little cheap Topeak unit- does everything you named & more- I realized that with its 2-line display, I'd have to push the button on it all the time to display different info. Hmm...
Recommendation 2. Consider getting one with a multi-line display(4 lines seems to work well).
Then I found a Planet Bike Protoge 8.0 on Craigslist- complete & cheap- paid a couple extra bucks for shipping, & really like it. It's wired, tells time, distance, trip, can be set for 2 different bikes, all you want & more. The PB Protoge 9.0 is the same unit, with the addition of a temperature display. The wired versions of both are very reasonable, especially if you shop around online. Maybe check on Amazon?
So- I dunno which bike computer you should buy, there are a lot of nice ones out there(the Cateyes seem to have a loyal following, though they cost more), but for the money, you could do a lot worse than the Planet Bike Protoge 8.0 or 9.0. Let us know whatever you choose.

I have a Specialized SpeedZone Comp that came "free" on my new bike last year. Given that it was a freebie, I doubt that it cost much. It has been very reliable and has been through a few good rainstorms with no problems. It is a basic instrument with speed, average speed, clock time, trip odometer, odometer, maximum speed etc. 3,900 miles on it so far and no problems.

The Schwinn cyclometers sold at Wal-Mart are made by Ascent. A wired unit sells for around $10. I have one I have used for 2 years without changing the battery. It has all you want and more.

I got this one recently: $39 at my local Penn Cycle on closeout.
Wireless too.
