Classic & Vintage - Funny what you find in your collection of stuff

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was looking all over the internet and e-bay for some cable guides I need for the mixte. For two days I'm gettin bupkis and then I remembered I stripped an old Centurian a friend from work gave me and lo and behold there were the exact pieces I was looking for (cue the collective sighs of relief from the forum) meaning I won't be bugging any of you folks (John D) for them. It was so odd that I finally remembered this bike frame and it shouldn't have cause I used the rear derailleur on the Continental. DUH
Not only is it a joy to have a parts stash, I cull mine twice a year.
The excess I garage sale on ebay (a real pain at 5/10/25 an auction) but this way I generally have a good idea of what's in inventory.
There's nothing like the feeling of thinking about a project, about what parts would be best then remembering that just such parts are in x, y and z boxes out in the garage.

I finally got around to installing a set of bins in my shop:rolleyes: When I tear down a parts bike the bits and pieces go straight to the bins if they are reusable. I also have some bigger bins that I use to contain ALL the parts of a single bike when I am doing an overhaul or major repair.
Aaron:)
I have bins for the parts that have some value. I recently moved and now I have a hard time finding some of the bins! I looked all over for the stems, just a minute ago.
