Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - What do you think of this light?

I was looking for LED flashlights to mount to my handlebars, as I would prefer to use a flashlight that runs on batteries than something i have to wire up.

I came across this (http://www.fulloflife.com/website/store/promotion.asp?item_no=81599&entry=froogle&source_code=RFL00000) and its relatively cheap (under $20). But for that price, I can only wonder about quality.

What do you guys think?

Hard to say - they don't say how many lumens the thing puts out. My guess is that these are older LEDs that don't put out much light.

Each one of the 5mm LED's in that flashlight is rated at 14,000 mcd . New high power LED's like the SSC P4 Z-Power are rated 250,000,000 mcd or about 250 lumen each. That company is going to be very lucky if they sell any of them at the price there asking.
If I were going to use a flashlight on my bike I would get a Cree, Rebel, or SSC from dealextreme.

It might make a good 'Be Seen' bike light but I doubt its bright enough to see by.

The light you were looking at is good for being seen (might make a good tail light if it was red). The Q5 puts out a lot of light, if you are more concerned with seeing the road.

That is how you would mount it. I also highly recommend Fenix's L2D CE flashlight. It is about $60 which is kind of out of your price range but well worth it in my opinion. The flashlights that people have linked to earlier from dealextreme are probably very good as well and within your price range. I wouldn't get one though that does NOT requires CR123A lithium ion batteries. Get the flashlights that use 2 x AA batteries.

I doubt the one you have listed will do the job, except maybe as a "be seen" light. A good solution to this problem would be to use one or more Fenix Cree Flashlights (https://www.fenix-store.com/index.php?cPath=22_69). Great light output, can be mounted to the handlebars or helmet, variations include AAA, AA, or CR123A battery types.

EMT conduit hangers work great. Here is a photo of one holding a Maglite flashlight.

I glue bits of old inner tube rubber to the inner surfaces to protect the flashlight from scratches.
Conduit hangers are sold in hardware and building supply stores in the electrical supply area and cost less than a dollar for the small ones. While your purchasing your conduit hangers buy a 1/4-20 thumb screw so no tools are required to loosen the hanger allowing easy removal of the flashlight.

Check out the Fenix LD2 lights. They are more than you want to spend, but are well worth it because of quality, runtime, and light output.
