It's been crazy at work. As a result, I've only gotten in one short ride so far this year. Last night, the wife suggested I get back into it, just to blow off some frustrations. So I have a nice 42 mile route planned for Saturday morning. Pretty flat, I'm cheating and avoiding hills for this one.
Enjoy the ride, get rid of some of those frustrations and of course give a report. My main reason for the bike is exercize but the relaxing part is good too.

Its that time of the year when Snow reports have almost disapeared- the sun is beginning to warm the air occasionally and the roads and trails have finally been washed clean with the April Showers. No better time than to get a few miles in to get the legs and body ready for the Summer rides.
Expect to hear a report on the aches and pains and whether the Saddle has picked up a few bits of rock to make you realise that you should not have laid off for so long.

Wish I had some flat land to ride. Its mostly rolling hills here. A few are really tame and some are just down right lung/heart/and leg burners. A 10 mile ride here is some quality exercise. Lp

Did my first real ride of the year today. I had planned a 40 mile route, but fell just a bit short. The first 12 miles featured a gusty cross wind. Then the headwind. That just about did me in. I did manage to get in 35 miles, right on the nose. Avg speed was 13.5 on a relatively flat route. I was a pretty happy with the results, considering it was only the second time on the bike since last August.
If I had shortened it to 25 miles, I'd probably be feeling a lot better right now, but I'm glad I did the extra distance.
Headwinds can almost spoil an otherwise good ride. Congratulations on a great ride. Hope it's the start of more time on the bike.

I took my first ride today in at least a couple of months. It was 25 miles. I suffered. My arm and shoulders hurt, and my heart/lungs felt tired before I was half finished. I could tell I hadn't been riding. To add to my discomfort, there was a headwind for the first 12 miles. When I turned to head for home it got much more fun, but I could still feel the pain of being out of shape. However, afterwards I felt great the rest of the day. I always feel that way. Is it the endorphins? When I've been for a good bike ride I always feel good the rest of the day.
I'm going to have to get more riding in if I want to take a tour this summer!
