Got out for the first time with my new NIMH 5 hour lighting system. Still do not like to ride in the fog. But, my niterieder system really lit up the road. Had been dubious about not being seen by motorists. I have two tail lights and a bright 15 w bulb in front. Lots of reflective straps about limbs. Cars flashed me from far away.
but my main point. Left about 45 minutes before dark. Got up top of a 1000 ft. hill from where you can see the sun go down over the Pacific. Red, grey clouds and a bright red sun. To the east was a full harvest moon. It was definitely a Kodak moment. Wish I had my disposable camera with me -that I often carry. it was memorable. Conditions were clear and temperatures pleasant for night time riding. Will do it again.

Cyclezalot,
What voltage is that set? Does the battery fit a bottle cage? Sounds like you had a great ride!

I love night riding. Going up the carriage road on Mount Royal [in Montreal, on my MTB] is a wonderful experience. If I do the lap a few times, I get a GREAT workout, gbut the really great part is the view! The city is spread out at the base of the mountain, lit like a Xmas tree. Few people around here get to see that.

Rainman and Velocipedio. My 15 w bulb is a single bulb with variable wattage. It has a compact battery that straps about my stem. Prefer a bottle cage setup, but the battery is compact. The system is a Niteriter system- Digital Evolution, with a smart charger. I have an older Vista light with lead acetate battery, but with two light beams.
Velocipedio. When I lived in the midwest I was lucky enough to make it to Quebec. I can recall your Mt. Royal- I believe. Except for your January temps.( to us So . Californians) you are very priviliged for your Mt. Royal ride. Wish I had taken my bike when I visited Quebec- would have traveled east along the St. Lawrence on a tour. That would be special. The lights at night from atop your Mt. must be awesome.
