I am a newly single mama with two girls, 3 yrs and 19 months old. I am moving to a smaller town that has excellent bike paths, and am wanting to make my bike into my main form of transportation. What would you recommend so we can travel safely and comfortably? I have looked at Chariots and Wikes online, and plan on a trip to the local bike shop soon. I haven't cycled a lot lately since I haven't really had the time. Looking for opinions.
Thanks
Jeneca
my wife uses a trek 7100WSD ( she is defiantly not a cyclist) We have a Trek Doodlebug that could seat both my kids (my son is now 6 and prefers his own ride.) I use her bike when i have both kids and am able to do light shopping and errands as the doodle bug also has storage capacity for kid stuff and cargo. Snack juice boxes water toys when i use it just for cargo the bug caries 2 gal. of milk 2 12 packs of soda, diapers, coffee 12 pack of propel, a box of cereal and still room to spare.
my bike could do the doodle bug cause the road stay where too small for a carbon frame.
The kids LOVE the trailer. Up until about age 5 then you my need the tandem with a mt train.

A bike trailer will probably be great for 2 - 3 years and should be a lot of fun. I really like mine (Trek GoBug) and use it as a bike trailer and a jogging stroller.
Get the baby's bike helmet from the bike shop, that was the only way I found a helmet to fit my youngest. If there is even a chance you'll be caught after dark carry an inexpensive set of lights.
Sounds like fun though!
