Advocacy & Safety - Just about hit......

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

4 guys on fixies. They blew through a red light, weaving through cars that were slamming on their brakes to avoid the jackoffs. They were joining the Critical Mass ride. Take yer dirty looks and shove 'em guys, you owe your life & well being not to your skill but the judgement & quick reflexes of the drivers.
Ironic thing is I was going to be at the CM. Promised my wife to walk with her & the dogs this evening. I was taking my nephew to his friend's place. He wants to do the ride next month. The local PD had a motorcycle, cop car and police services truck escorting. And ticketing. Saw 2 kids getting ticketed for I know not what. Looks fun. The majority of the riders were fine. Next month, my nephew, myself & his friends are going.
I would like to say "let natural selection take its course," but idiots such as the quartet you observed can cause harm to others, as well as themselves, and they damage the cause of lawful vehicular bicycling, "same rights, same rules, same roads," etc. I wonder whether these yo-yos even had brakes on their bikes.

No brakes at all. I understand the attraction of fixed gear bikes, but street riding is not what they do best. "We didn't stop because we couldn't" is not the smartest defense.

"We didn't stop because we couldn't" is not the smartest defense.I watched some genius on a fixed gear come flying down a hill at top speed today. There was a car stopped at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill; Junior Einstein passed on the right as he blew the stop at full speed.
Why didn't he get hit? Because the car that was stopped didn't turn right. Not that he knew that when he blew the stop, of course.
There's a saying that's applicable here: There are old soldiers, and there are bold soldiers, but there are no old, bold soldiers.
I won't miss any of these idiots when they're gone.
