This sure is a nice way for you to be banned. Seriously though, this place can benefit from some less moderation.

You get them from being Australian. You have no infraction points.

I have none and I'm not a particularly nice person. It makes you wonder just how abrasive you have to be to get banned. While I don't claim to know all the details about every ban, several that I have seen were totally avoidable if the bannee was capable of learning or just shutting the f up.

It kind of reminds me of people that complain about speeding tickets. You know how the game works, you know what's expected of you. If you choose to ignore the limits, you may get caught. If you get caught, quit whining. It was your choice and your actions.

Don't want to get caught? Stay within the limits.

Seems pretty simple even to me.

None. But I'm glad there are sassy people around here. It makes for better reading.

How could this place have less moderation? I've been on a ton of forums and I think the mods here do a good job, mostly hands off.

:D

And seriously... for a family friendly and no exclusive site things are pretty lax here.

Yeah they do a good job of handing out bullsh!t infractions. Lots of mods itching to do that.

You should have been in the So Cal region 1 month ago. They clean the wreckage pretty quickly, though.

Close, you get them for questioning American superiority.

Ok, srsly, quite moaning about the mods. You know, they do their best, life ain't fair, get over it. Piling on isn't classy or fun.

You can question anything here... it is just how you do it (or don;t).

Some times it seems like they are running a troll preserve here which means that many folks are getting cut a lot more slack than they deserve.

I can handle infractions, what bothers me is when they delete posts that don't warrant an infraction.

If posts get deleted by the mods then they have been deemed offensive so the deletion is warranted... some might disagree.

That's just it. You can get stuff deleted that is not offensive, just politely asking the wrong question can be enough. If it was offensive it would come with an infraction, but it's doesn't - it's just censoring out what they deem to be unpleasantness. There is a real difference between unpleasant and offensive.

Then I give up and go outside and garden or ride my bike...and I feel better again...:)

I have always found the mods to be "mostly" fair. One thing I do know is that I would not want their job. I would be afraid that there would be ALOT fewer members here if I was one:D. Offensive isn't the same from person, what one is offended by, another will not find offensive. I suppose that mirrors life eh? When you join this forum, as well as any other, you know the rules by which you are expected to abide. To join the forum and then complain about the rules is a waste of energy, much like the speeding ticket analogy posted earlier. Now, having said that, are some members given more lattitude than others?....probably. Once again, isn't it the same in the "real" world? The mods here do a nice job of keeping the site informative, as well as fun and entertaining.I have tried other cycling forums on the net, and one is a certifiable spam fest and has been for the last 2 years. Those mods let it (the spam...as well as everything else) get way out of hand by "leaving the members alone and letting them have their say," so I think I will stay here where the mods, at least, care about their forum...or seem to.

Cheers,

Brian

There are plenty of things that do not belong on the forum, but aren't over the top enough to warrant an infraction. Often you may get an official, or off-the-books warning along with it, sometimes we decide it's enough of a message just to delete the post in question and leave it at that. However, if you'd like an infraction issued every single time we delete a post of yours, I will be happy to put in that request for you. ;)

This a queer state of affairs IMO.

I've been so clearly asking for it (see above).

Do you think one infraction would be adequate, or would you be able to work up more indignity with two?

I would imagine two would be more effective... the more I have to work with the more I can dig deep to foster some good old-fashioned righteous indignation... but I didn't want to be too demanding or anything.
