We've not contributed to this forum lately as we've just spent the last two months in warm, sunny Arizona tandeming and hiking. Here's a sample of some great rides down that way, all on paved roads. Just below Lake Havasu and Parker Dam there's a serious climb to Black Meadow Landing where you'll often see wild burros, coyotes, and loads of lizards. Just east of the town of Parker, Shea Road is a great 27 mile out and back around a BLM wilderness Area. On east about 20 miles is the tiny town of Bouse. There's a city park on the south side to start riding the beautiful Plomosa Road down to Quartsite. That's about a 40 mile round trip through flowering cactus. About 75 miles further east in the small cow town of Wickenburg the Vulture Mine Road is a stellar 30 mile round trip.
Then we made our way To Zion National park...where cars must be left at the gate. But bicycles are allowed through Zion Canyon. The more times you cycle the 18 mile round trip the more sites you see that you missed the day before.
Then hiking, or Canyoneering as they call it, is the way to spend alternate days at Zion Canyon as well as in the Canyons just below Lake Havasu on the Colorado. The Park Service has many improved trails at Zion and the burros have made countless trails below Havasu.
