"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Brasstown Bald pictures

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here's some pics I took today at Brasstown Bald...

The mustachioed Zabriskie has a pretty decent Kevin Costner/American Flyers look going.
BTW, nice pics, thanks for posting.

Great pics. I guess baselayers aren't in this year.
What kind of camera did you use?
Thanks for the comments all.
garysol1 - way to go on the effort! It is a helluva climb...we walked it. :)
roq - I was thinking the same thing when taking the shots...As for camera - it's a Canon rebel xt w/ 70-200L glass.

Mostly climbers. That way you stay aero when you unzip the jersey on mountain days.

I'm hoping he shows to the Mt. Washington hillclimb. Preferably on a singlespeed 52X14. I'd like to beat an Olympic gold medalist.

Team High Road uses SRMs, if you look closely it is right in front of his stem.

I've done Brasstown Bald Buster Century twice. Finished 10th and 14th. Walked the wall both times.
The only times I've ridden up weren't after 100 miles.

No doubt. Next time Ill throw a 27 on the back and see what happens. 39/25 just isn't working for me on that hill.

Cue the 'you're doing it wrong' pictures.
I'd been wondering why everyone *****es about Brasstown; I thought it was pretty easy. Now I know - I ran a 33/28.

I was up higher on the stage - 2nd to last turn. Levi was still just ahead of Lowe. Here's some short vid clips (though not the leaders - was shooting stills then), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRY36UkmkGo.
I walked it up and down - the longest 7 miles I've ever walked, and after 35 miles of riding on the Circle the Bald ride.

my wife and i were about 475 meters from the line and got some amazing pics. i'll post em up when i get all 600 of em sorted out. After reviewing some of them i remeber that the high road rider that won almost slipped past us because of the crowd around levi and trent lowe. I was like WHO WAS THAT? i'll post the pics when i can

Tyler-Dope=mid pack domestic.
He would be very happy with mid pack at this point. We were at the finish in Dahlonega on Friday. After the packs came through we started to mill around a bit. Tyler was a good 5 minutes behind 90% of the other riders. The only guys behind him were a few sprinters who's job's were done.

And he looked like crap coming into the bend to the last stretch to the finish - about like a wrung out $2 hooker. I was surprised to see him finish as well as he did on Brasstown Bald.

Julich seems a bit more relaxes than others on the climb
Written on the arm of a Symmetrics rider - anticipating not coming next year?
Sivtsov in the lead

I think Bluesdawg is right. Upon close examination of the hi-rez original, I see two Toyota United riders in the distance and McGee finished just ahead of 2 T-U boys. My photo just before it was a Gerolsteiner and a Symmetrics rider side-by-side and one of each finished just ahead of McGee. It's hard to catch who's who as they go by, then to try to remember each one when you can't see the bib #s to help.

You're right, it can be very hard to identify everyone. I got pictures of almost every rider as they came by me. I was able to ID most by looking at the finish order. Here is another shot of McGee and the 2 T-U riders behind him.
