Road Cycling - Rack for Compact Geometry

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. My Specialized Sequoia fits me perfectly and I love the bike. However, it features "compact geometry" and does not fit on my old metal bike rack, i.e., the arms of the rack are too far apart to hang the bike. I've tried getting it on my friend's newer Thule, which has arms that are somewhat flexible, but it's still a stuggle to get it on without scraping the cables. Does anyone know of a bike rack that can accomodate bikes with compact geometry? :(
Hi,
I have the same problem with the bike racks on my Chevy Blazer and Honda CR-V.
I have a VW Eurovan Camper (Winnebago conversion) and Fiamma (Italian company) makes a special bike rack that will work with the Sequoia. It sits the bike tires in a rail and uses a device called a "Lock Block" to secure the frame to the rack. Being highly adjustable, it will work with non-standard bike frames.
Fiamma also makes some other racks for the back of SUVs, both with and without tire carriers.

I also read that Draftmaster might make a carrier that will suit these purposes.

There is a gadget that will go between stem and seat post. Saris calls it a Bike Beam, Yakima calls it a Tube Top. It is an adjustable bar with quick release clamps on each end. It might fit your purpose for around $25-30
The best thing I have seen recently is the reciever hitch rack from Saris Cycle-On, It will hold just about any bike by the wheels, much like the racks you see on some city buses.

I use a cheap Rhode Gear "super cycle shuttle" with my size 54 Spcialized Allez and have a room to spare.
