Foo - What a crappy day...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Had to give my dog away today.
He nipped my daughter; I think it was an accident in that he snapped at her and "missed" by connecting. It certainly wasn't a real bite, or she'd probably have been seriously maimed. Still, she needed 4 or 5 stitches and that's just too much.
He's a good dog, but just not compatible with a 2 year old. He needs a job; he'll be better off as a working dog than a pet.
Just sucks because even though the brain knows what has to be done, the heart doesn't necessarily fall in line.
Its hard, but you did what was right. You never know if a similar (or worse) event could happen again.

He attacks children... Lets make sure he gets a good home working with the disabled!

Are you volunteering to take him?

A shame, but you did the right thing. A nippy dog around a youngster is a bad combination, especially if he bit her hard enough to need stitches.

That is a crappy situation all round. FWIW - I think you made the right (and hard) choice.
Aww, that's too bad, but you did the right thing. I'm the kind of person that when you adopt an animal, lizard, etc - it's yours for life, but when it comes to safety - ya gotta do the right thing and you did. If he is indeed a good dog - he will be adopted out - especially since these agencies are good, no better nowadays, at placing an animal with a family who is able to take him (meaning no small children). Stitches are no fun, poor baby. :(
