I'm curious about which brands of road shoes are most popular... I'm a Diadora man right now, likely to go over to Sidi...

I wear Shimano shoes now. I tried Sidi but could not get them to fit properly in any style and the Diadora always seemed to feel like my heal was coming up no matter how tight I cinched them down. The Shimano's are great.

Sidi here. They do come a bit narrow, but I have a narrow foot, no biggie here.

I wear Adidas Samba indoor soccer shoes. I don't use clipless pedals, and socer shoes are narrow enough for a road pedal.

i'm a sidi girl at heart, but i also like my carnacs(the poll wouldn't let me pick two shoes!).

the carnacs have a stifffff sole and the wider toe box works great for winter(thick wool sox, plastic baggies). the downside is that they are heavier than my sidis.

I have a bunch of shoes, the wide lasted, ratchet closure Sidi road shoe is my latest acquisiton and they work well, I bought them a bit big as there are no half sizes. Occasionally I'll use some of my other shoes if I'm riding a standard pedal, want to rest the Sidis or want to wear something to walk in. If I find a shoe I like or for "cheap" sometimes I'll buy a larger size for winter riding. I've found some deals and done some trading over the years and tried many shoes looking for the "FIT"
Others:
3 pr Rivat leather upper, velcro 2 for look 1 for std pedal (and a bit larger for more socks)
2 pr Sidi "Titanium" lace (Kangarooo skin-very comfy) saving for riding the older bikes or std pedals on long rides
1 pr Duigi velcro leather upper for look
1 pr Rivat winter lace std pedal
2 pr older New Balance touring/mtn- 2 sizes winter/summer
1 pr Lambertini leather uppers and soles from the "nail on cleat" days- my first pair of riding shoes
1 pr Diadora buckskin lining for riding w/no socks for look

I think that's all that I have in inventory right now. If you haven't guessed I have trouble throwing useable stuff away

(I didn't take the poll, I couldn't decide what to vote for!)

Ride well shod

I have Look mtb shoes, converted so I can use them for BOTH road and off-road. I may buy a pair of new shoes next year- this year my budget didn't allow for it.

I'm leaning toward Diadoras because I hear they're good for narrow feet.

Yes, I've got very narrow feet, and Diadora's fit like a dream... :)

Just went with a pair of Specialized. I have a wide foot (2E) and was shopping around for some Sidis in Mega width when LBS suggested I try the Specialized. I was skeptical but figured nothing to lose. They fit my wide foot very well and the LBS price was well under anything I could find Sidis for anywhere on the web. (And boy did I look!)

I use Shimano RD(?) 72's, mainly because they were cheap ($50). They're so-so shoes and probably flex a lot since I get a hot sport after around 30 mins. of spinning. I wish I could afford a Northwave Evolution. Those shoes are the sweetest.

I use Diadora mountain bike shoes with clips and straps. They fit my (narrow, long-toed) feet extremely well. For running, I use ASICS exclusively, because I have a pronation problem.

I've had Lake, Diadora and I now have been riding SIDI Genius shoes for the past 3 years. I love these shoes, especially the ratchet adjustment. I know that they make another model (Mega) that has a wider last and will fit wider feet. I think they come in black which is cool if you want stealth shoes rather than bright colors. The Sidi's were cheaper than expected since I got them mailorder during a winter sale. Saved a bunch!

Two weeks later and I finally get around to casting my vote...

On the road, I wear Sidi Genius 3. I love the way they fit, and, like bikeman, I dig the black. I'm amazed that more shoes don't come in basic colors. I'm a roadie at heart, and I wear these most often, so that's where my vote went.

For mountain shoes, I have an old pair of specialized. I don't know the model, but they're brown suede and nylon, and they just have laces and velcro. It seems most of the shoes I see now have flashy colors (like the road shoes) and fancy buckles or clippy things. Mine don't. I kinf of like it that way.

When I started riding to school, I realized what a pain in the butt it was to walk around in bike shoes, so I bougt a pair of Cannondale something-or-others. They're basically sneakers with a cleat, and they're super comfy to walk in. I also don't get that annoying "click-click-click" either. They're not as fitted or as stiff as my other shoes, so I wouldn't want to train in them, but they're perfect when I'm going to ride somewhere and then walk for a few hours.

I just picked up a new pair here for the wet weather. They are great! Only thing is that they are for MTBs, and I am a roadie. Guess you have to sell out sometime.

Cheers...Gary

They should have plenty of float, or at least float well in wet weather :D

I am amazed with the great fit of Shimano SPD-R. They fit my wide, high instep feet like few shoes I have had in my whole life. Sort of the opposite of SIDIs for me. They are way unfashionable in their basic black, but they only cost $70. In the year I have had them, I have worn them about 5 days every week and they show no signs of wear.

They have this ventilation hole in the sole just under the ball of the foot. During the winter I stuff styrofoam or cork in there to keep warm.

Im suprised that nobody has mentioned Specialized shoes. The're priced extreamly well and are just as comfortable as the Shimano shoes

Two makes - Nike as indicated in my poll selection and Northwave also. Prefer the Nike during the summer months, Northwave during the winter.

I wear these Shimano RO97's. I have no experience with other shoes but these are very comfortable and I think they look good as well. Hopefully they will last me a while. After these I will probably give SIDI's a try.

I have a lot of pairs of shoes also, one of my weak points when I see a nice shoe..For the most part I run Sidi's and Northwaves, Northwaves look the best to me and feel the best for my foot, but Sidi's are very close, my Mom really likes the sidi's so we run those on the tandem, so they work well for me also, but I do have a Gaern, and a vittoria, those vittoria's are very narrow though..
