Sorry for the type-O, i hit submit to early.

I can't seem to get this bolt out(circled in the pic below), I can't tell if it's attached to the spindle or not. You can see one of the wrench contraptions i made to hold the spindle while i take out the bolt with the other wrench. It was too hard though, fused maybe? Or do I need another person? I can't tell if it's apart of the spindle or just keeping the spindle on. I want the whole crankset, bbs, and spindle out, basically the whole thing.

It's left hand thread.

It's left hand thread.

So I just turn the bolt to the right to loosten it up? The bike by the way is upside down.

So do i turn the wrench when it's on the bolt left or right in the pic? I am going to use a hammer to hammer the wrench, it should come out. I don't want to tighten it by mistake. This bolt does come out right?

Just turn it the opposite way you have been turning. Things are usually righty tighty, lefty loosey.

This is the other way around.

Yeah, i had it right the first time. I guess it's just really tight on there. Any suggestions for getting it off? Hammer maybe? mallet?

How do you remove the 2 BB's that the bottom bracket went through? Semms like the spacer is in the way.

What kind of bottom bracket do you have?

Oh yeah, are they sealed or can you see the ball bearings themselves. I can't view the pics you posted earlier for some reason.

Okay, you need to now that the left side of the bike has reverse threads. That means you have to unscrew the left hand side bolt to the RIGHT, and the right side the normal way (this is if the bike is right side up). After you get them off, pull the spindle out and use something soft like pencil to knock out the bearings from the inside. DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER!

Good call man, I was going to pound them out with a screw driver just now. Them bearings are way in there man. I think a pencil will break. Ima try it though right now to get them out.

I had the same problem, anything that will fit through one bearing but will not damage the other will work. In other words, nothing metal (toothbrush perhaps?).

I don't think the pencil worked, and the spacer leaves me a few mm to work with on the inside. I think i got this, do you usually use a pencil? I got the cranks and spindle out already, it's just those bearings that don't want to budge.

Think it be safe to hammer it?

I use a wooden brush made for cleaning small parts. If you have to use a screwdriver, make sure it is on a metal part of the bearing.

I'm sorry my browser didn't show the last part of your post until now. That's what I did. I used the wooden brush and gave it quick hits to knock the bearing out. Make sure you hit it in different spots so that you aren't trying to psh out one side in vain.

I think ChristAir should pray for it.

Cartridge bearings are a pain. I have a set a Flights that are going off on ebay in a couple of hours that were a hassle to get the bearings out and in.

This bike is in need of praying. It's going 700 miles.

From Seattle Wa, to San Bruno CA

On a bike rack? And did you get the bearings out?

Correction, cartridge bearings are not a pain but are actually the best things ever made.

When they are some of the first for a BMX and are 25 years old, rusted and whatnot, they are a pain, especially to clean. You can go look at them and see that the water in the frame "bubbled" the plastic. I got the crankset secondhand (for $1.50, sweet!).

On it's own wheels.

I took a hammer to it with a screwdriver(I am going to get new bearings anyway) and hit it with a mallet.

No such luck. I hit it in a pattern to push it out more evenly. I think I need to go outside and hit it harder with the mallet.

Since you are going to get new ones. Lube or WD-40 the mess outta of them. All around them, this will destroy them on the inside if the WD-40 can seep in somewhere, but you are getting new ones anyway.

I put gunk penetrating oil it. It is all over the place. It did a good job on the spindle nut.

Tell me if it gets out. If nothing else, straddle the frame upside down and beat the livin' mess out of them (same way, screwdriver in the hole of one bearing to knock out the other).

dude i have cartridge bearings right now because my other bearings blew up. i HATE having cartridge bearings cause they roll so unevenly. plus they fall apart real easy.
