OK, so I go to my doctor for my bi-yearly physical and he tells me: " Everything looks great, you're in great shape, but you have a significant amount of blood in your urine. I suggest you see a urologist." So, a couple of weeks later I go to the urologist and he says, "yup, you have blood. We'll need an ultrasound of your kidneys and we'll have to scope your bladder. Go see the nurse and make an appointment" It’s not until I walk out of his office that it hits me: "Scope my bladder" what does that mean? So I ask the nurse on my way out, and she says, "oh, that’s a Cystoscopy.... The Dr. takes a tube, inserts it in your urethra and looks for cancer or tumors in your bladder." "Wait, just a minute", I protest, "I never agreed to do that."
The nurse says that basically I have no choice, nothing else will detect small cancers or tumors in your bladder. What am I to do? This is not exactly the arena where I need to be macho. I'll admit it without hesitation, I was scared S*#$less!!! but I make the appointment for Friday the 25th, but not before I search the net and read what others who have had the procedure say. As one might expect, the stories were on both sides of the spectrum....from horror to not so bad. Not much help to me, however.
I go in on Friday, shaking from head to toe. Long story short, skipping the details, the test was not so bad after all. Don't get me wrong, it was not pleasant and stung like a b**#h, but he does the test and finds nothing wrong. But Doc, I ask, "why do I have blood in my urine." He says he has no idea, "Maybe its just irritation from RIDING YOUR BIKE SO MUCH, come back in 6 months."
So that's it, irritation from riding too much. All that for irritation, all that because I ride "too much".
:D
