Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Is my bike Flight Deck compatible? How can I tell?

Is there any way for me to know if my bike is Flight Deck compatible? I just bought the thing and I'm very proud of it. I don't have it with me because I bought it used and it's in the shop for a tune up.

I have chondromalacia in my knees and as a result I have to have a cadence sensor because it is important that I stay above 90. So I'm looking around at computers, and the Flight Deck seems like a pretty cool idea.

The problem is that I have no idea if my shifters are compatible. All I know is that my bike (a Kona Jake) was manufactured in 2005, and has Shimano Sora shifters.

Are ALL Shimano Sora shifters compatible? Or are only the very recent types compatible?

Does anyone know?

No. Tiagra and lower aren't Flight Deck compatible; 105 and up are. You'll either need to resell that computer and get another brand with cadence, or get some 105 shifters. Or, learn some songs that you can sing in your head that have the right tempo (which is what I do sometimes, just for fun ;) ).

If they have STI shifters that are 9 speed you should be okay.

My Tiagra equipped Trek was Flitedeck compatible... it should say something to that effect on the shifters themselves, I do believe.

OTOH, if all you want is cadence, there's cheaper solutions. The whole flitedeck setup is a little pricey, around $80-90 or so.

You can do better, for less. For example, the Catey Strada wirelss with wired cadence is $38:
