Firstly do please accept my advance apologies for my naivety but I'm a complete newbie at this.
I have bought an old Bianchi road bike that I’m trying to bring back to glory. It had some shocking components added on so I thought I’d replace them.
So I have bought second also a lovely pair of campag caliper brakes and levers.

1/ First problem the brake nuts are too short to affix to the frame (this has been discussed before I believe): My solution to swap the front and rear brakes so I can at least affix them. (Yes I do know which way around they are supposed to be.
2/ Next problem. The brakes do not quite reach the rims, despite adjustments. I guess this is because I have 26” wheels and the frame was built for 27” am I right?3:/ This is fun: The brake levers have are far too big to affix to the drop bars: Do drop bars come in different diameters?

All in all it’s frustrating as nothing fits! But it would help my sanity in knowing that I am right about this before I continue!

1) the brake bolts are replaceable

2) There are no adapters to go from 27" to 26". There used to be some to go from 27" to 700c, but I don't think they are available any more.

Sheldonbrown.com (Harris Cyclery) has offset/drop bolts, which shorten the required brake reach. These are indeed intended to accommodate the 4mm radial difference between a 630mm/27" rim and a 622mm/700C rim.

but not like you are thinking, dave. The grip portion of drop bars has gooten bigger over the years. I found this out when I was trying to put my old, non-aero brake levers onto a new ritchey bar...there was no way that they would fit.

The new levers you bought should snug up though. if they don't, try shimming it with something...

another thing. You probably have a 27" frame with 700c wheels on it, so you need LONG reach brakes. as far as I know, campy does not make long reach brakes, so you'd have to go japenese on this part.
