A. My fob (grants me access to the building)

B. My underwear

I'm not sure which is worse.

Make one tiny change to your morning routine and everything goes haywire.

you can always buy a new pack of underwear...

worst combination to forget are keys and cellphone.

I get everything ready at night, before going to bed. It seems to lessen the "oh, sh*t!" moments in the morning commute. I also keep extra stuff's at work, just in case.

The worst thing I ever forgot was my towel. I didn't realize I'd forgotten it until after I'd showered, of course. Drying off with paper towels sucks.

I've forgotten my underwear and socks before. Commando it is! Just be careful zipping up the old fly :)

If I forget my access card, I either wait for an hour for someone to show up in reception, or I tail in with someone else. We're not supposed to do that. Bad dog.

I'm riding in regular clothes on the shorter version of my commute that I am riding. Kind of hard to forget underwear.

I have a check list I go through at night before going to bed. It's been 98% effective so far. The 2% it wasn't effective was when I did not look at it.:)

I have a few changes of clothes at work for various reasons. Most of them are from when I don't make it home from work at night and I end up going to the Gap on the way to work and buy new ones. Boxers, dress shirt, couple of t-shirts, pair of pants, and a jacket are here right now.

Luckily, never forgotten my keys. Have forgotten my security badge, but the security here sucks so I can get through anyways.

I call the temp badges at my work the 'Medallion of Shame' to the delight of the guards. They have a big ol' honkin' piece of brass (2" in diameter and about 3/4" thick) so you don't carry it home.

Pants are the worst to forget. Just... trust me on that one.

(I agree with you on the changes to routine. Sometimes the routine is all that gets me moving in the first place.)

I once forgot my keys. Our neighbor has a set of house keys, but when I came out after work I suddenly realized that I didn't have the key to my bike lock!!!

I had to walk home and go back and pick up the bike. I did get some strange stares from co-workers.

NOW, I keep a spare bike lock key in my desk...

Try using the electric hand dryer. That was an experience...

I've forgotten underwear and pants, but luckily the pants was while I was working at a golf retail outlet that sells a whole plethora of pants. Wasn't too thrilled about having to purchase new pants, but at least I wasn't working all day in my cycling shorts. :D

Pants...
Iam usually really good about going over everything that I packed in my head before I leave the house. On this particular day I forgot pants so I biked back home and picked them up and then biked back to work so I added some extra miles that day no big deal.

I like the idea of laying stuff out the night before so I can have a more relaxed morning.

We're such creatures of habit. At this time of year I go from bus to bike and back to bus depending on how cold and/or wet it is. It seems that no matter how carefully I try to plan ahead in the evening I miss something or some other thing is in the wrong place and I end up forgetting something important or missing my bus. When I get back to the bike full time (next week I hope) things will settle down.

How much is there to remember? I admit that for me, working in casual clothes, it's pretty easy: lunch, wallet, phone, jacket, shirt to change into, jumper (sometimes). Other stuff like pump and tools stay in the bag. None of those things would really be a disaster - the clean shirt would be annoying though.

Last week my wife got up while I was getting ready, forgot my keys, cell phone, and badge. I have everything laid out, and because she was in the kitchen as I passed though I went right past my stuff, and she closed the garage door so i didn;t have to unlock my truck to hit the garage door opener. Oh well at least I got to ride my bike

My girlfriend makes great dinners and helps me out in the morning, no complaints here she is the best.
We carpool together sometime too.
No evil signs as of yet.

Ever had those weeks where you forget at least 1 thing a day? Whether it's wallet, badge, undies, towel, deodorant, socks, belt...?

I've never forgotten pants.

Routine definitely helps, it's change that shakes things up, whether it's the wife "helping" or a new bag, a new house (my last experience) or even a new bike. When I got my last bike I was so excited that I forgot to think about packing!

I have become more strategic, and now I stock just about everything at work. Shoes stay here, as does an extra belt, undershirt and underwear. It's pretty hard for me to forget my work clothes because that's my biggest deal in the a.m.

I also stock extra deodorant and TONS of extra food.

I have a friend that always says that women are out kill their men... but very, very slowly... when his
wife does something goofy... he'll say "chip!, chip!"

it does get a laugh from people at work (partially because his wife is kind of a ditz...)

I am goofy too so I can't say anything, I will say she is a little clumsy.

I am working on building a singlespeed bike for her so we can ride together, she rides this tank of a thing right now.

The operative phrase in that post is "MY GIRLFRIEND".

Wait.... the horns don't appear untill atleast 6wks after the nuptuals

I wanted to say 'my partner', but thanks for warning.
I will do what I can to keep the horns from emerging.
