I like both a lot. To me, life isn't complete if I don't have at least one dog and one cat (but I usually have two or three of each.) When I'm petting the dog we talk about those "dumb old cats," but when I'm snuggling with the cat we commiserate about the "dumb old dogs."
(If I had to choose one species, it would be dogs, but don't tell my cats that.)

We have three cats and two dogs. My husband was never a "cat person" until we found our first kitten, from there he was hooked. We found both of our dogs at different times when we were cycling. I insisted that we couldn't leave Dehesa when we first spotted her running back and forth across a busy road. I think she was trying to commit suicide, because she was near death when we found her. I made my husband ride all the way back home, about 15 miles, to get the truck so we could take her to a vet. The other dog we found when we were riding our tandem. This dog was not nearly in as bad a shape, but not fixed, no collar and no houses near by. Again my husband had to ride back about 10 miles to get the truck while I stayed with the dog. We are glad we are able to care for all the creatures that come our way, we don't have the heart to turn them down. They have brought joy and lots of smiles to us and we are grateful to have them in our lives.

The best of both worlds. We have corgis.
Older divorced woman... of course I like cats. I have only one. I would like two but I refuse to be classified as a crazy cat lady. Something about having only one doesn't seem so crazy.
I see dogs as goofy, nutty animals. They always seem perplexed (pretty much like most of the men I know). Cats on the other hand, are real comedians and know how to make their owners laugh. I've always like men with a good sense of humor so stands to reason I like cats. My current cat buddy is a real sweet but fun guy. He just as soon sits in my lap and be rubbed then anything else. Now if I could only find a man like that...:D

We've had both. Right now a dog that we rescued from a shelter when the kids were still living at home. Now that the kids are gone, I'm not sure I would want another pet. It really makes it harder to be spontaneous with trips away from home. And, I can't begin to count the number of bike rides that I've had to cut short in order to make sure the animals were getting fed or cared for. Pets are OK. Bikes are better. I've been bitten or otherwise attacked by dogs, cats, ferrets, snakes, and a parrot. Never had any of my bikes attack or bite me, and I find that they cost about the same to own.
You don't mountain bike do you? I've been catch up and chewed on a few times or two by my MTBike. Bikes can be just as nasty as pets!!!:p

Here is a pic of my sweet Rosie on a just completed tour of coastal South Carolina
Hi,
I like cats but I am very allergic to some of them -- especially the cats that belong to my sister.
I am OK with dogs, but they seem to like me much more than I like them. My problem with dogs is that they like to slobber on me.
Mrs Poky is in the canine business, (boarding and training). She has two flat coated retrievers, one irish red and white retriever, and one sibierian husky that live in the house, there are four now retired sibirians in the kennel from our dog sledding days and 10 kennels for boarders and long term training. Not a cat in sight.

I've never tried either species, although I do enjoy Chinese food.

Personally, neither my wife nor I would ever have a dog or a cat, and our marriage is fine.
My wife and I have allways had cats and dogs and our marriage is fine, however a noisy conure ( bird )strained things pretty good for a short while .

I like both, but a dog is not suitable for my living arrangements right now.
Apropos of nothing, but your avatar looks like a cross between my two cats,
It has the big bat ears of my Bengal, and the facial "expression" and laid back
demeanor of my big, soft, gentle Tabby.
