Basically building this bike around a 12-27 10spd rear wheel. I want to go with a MTB trigger-style shifter for a flatbar and I'm wondering which rear derailleur would work best (would like to stick with shimano road if possible). Totally unfamiliar with putting mountain parts on a road frame and the sweet spot for price/durability (thinking 105 equivalent)

Can you get 10 gears out of a mtb shifter?
SRAM sells a 10spd version of their triggers for "road" applications. In that case you would need a SRAM rival rd I think.
Shimano 10-speed bar-end shifter with Paul Thumbie. Better than trigger shifting.

Shimano has a 10 speed flat bar shifter also, fb 7400 or something like that. those go for 160 bucks
