Yeah - I bumped a thread about that actually -that's a rare F1 bmx frame. When BMX was losing popularity in the late 80s there was a one year series of racing called F1 that had geared bikes on small tarmac circuits - ie car-parks. Frame geometry - like this one was definitely 'pursuit' orientated and they are wicked frames for a modern conversion. More in this thread:

I think you can search by marque, which is ok for Dahon but less so for Raleigh :)

Look for Haro Dart, Schwinn Qualifier, Diamondback F1...

Here's another interesting pair of bikes from FGG--ones that I had originally come across just looking through the archives. I found them again by looking for "Specialized" in the titles using the find function. There are lots of Specialized on the FGG!

Anybody know what the folder is? The crank looks like an R20 crank, but what's up with that folding mechanism?

Overall, thought this would be a good addition considering discussion of brake bridge cutting and larger wheels on twenties, etc. In this case, the folder's turned into a kind of FrankenTwenty, albeit an interesting one.

That is a Raleigh RSW16 Compact... Folds vertically a bit like a Swift.

That RSW 16 makes me wonder: has anyone tried an R16? By that, I mean has anyone tried putting 16" wheels on an R20? I searched for this on the forum but only came up with questions about the RSW 16. I've seen the R20 threads discussing going up in wheel size but not down.

Seems like there could be crank arm issues (BB too low?).
If it were fixed, could you keep the old fork and not worry about (at least front) brakes?

Has a R16 been made? Not that I know of though it could be done.

I suppose there isn't much of a precedent of downgrading wheel sizes as that's basically what it is. You could totally do an R16 but like you predict, the BB would be that bit lower and you'd need short cranks. so the reason to do it is maybe less clear :)

FYI there was a kids version of the Twenty that runs on 18" wheels (no idea what ISO size that translates to) called the R18 (sold as the Commando and Denim) that is a bit like a Moulton Mini - ie It's something like 6:8 scale version of the adult bike.

Thought of it as a way to make my 20 a little more compactly folded. But just looking at the BB, it looks like I'd need some pretty mini cranks to accommodate. I'll keep it in mind. Of course, this also may be a good excuse to start thinking about a DT mini...

Thanks Doco, those FGG folders are very cool. I've come across that Philips "Folder of Death," which I kind of like. For some reason, I think black wheels look great and I want to try to do that with my twenty. Don't think I'll go with a pirate theme, however. I hadn't seen the others bikes. I actually really like the Boardwalk--the Deep Vs are nice looking on it.
