Bicycle Mechanics - Special hubs for one-sided fork?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Sorry, tried searching for a better term, but couldn't find one. I mean the kind of suspension front fork that supports the wheel from one side only. So instead of "fork" you have just one blade going down to one end of the front wheel axle.
With terminology out of the way, my actual question is, are there specifically designed hubs that one should use when axle is supported from one end only? Or will normal hubs do just fine?

I believe you are referring to a "Lefty" fork by Cannondale. There are special hubs needed for this "fork". One advantage of this setup is that you can change a tire without removing the wheel.

One disadvantage is you have no hub choices.

Wow...five choices.
I'm underwhelmed.
It's what's known as a Stub Axle hub. Another common use for these hubs is recumbent trikes.

Comparatively speaking, that is very few choices.
I'd wager that at most shops other than Cannondale dealerships, it would definitely be no choice in stock, special order only.
Other manufacturers made/make one-sided forks with matching hubs. Google Kastan Uni Fork for a BMX, Mike Burrows fork for a variety of bikes.
