This ride has taught me that mother-of-all-pulls are awesome..... when I'm not pulling!
I've learned that toddler-of-all-pulls works best for me so I'm not yo-yo'ing of the back so much. Pick a sign/tree/mailbox in the distance and pull to that spot, then wave the next rider up to pull.
It's also taught me that I can't loaf at the bottom of short burst hills. I have to get up to the front and hang on to a wheel. Start behind and I'm toast.

Ah...so you were at the "other" table. ;)
Is it just me or did our group appear like elitist snobs? We were just enthralled with Collarchange's description of the downfall of his shoulder.
I wasn't at the other table. I didn't stick around after the ride. :( Next time:D

I rode about 2/3 of the loop right after work (had to get home). Saw a couple riders as I headed down the last stretch of Old Sutton. Was that any of you guys getting an early warm-up? I finished a little after 5:00. I thought about leaving a "Voldemort was here" sign at Penny Road Pub, but knew if I stopped I'd need ...

We didn't roll out until 6:30, so I don't think that was us. The beauty of that area, though, is that there are so many folks out riding. And it's in the middle of the 'burbs. And it's basically still rush hour.

It is simple, they hate us.
Meh, piss them off more by riding and follow the rules, oh god, they'll hate us more for then obeying the law.

One front wheel is laced and tensioned through stage 1. The other front has spokes cleaned and prepped.
Front came in @ 665g. The other will as well.
I'll have my son lace the other front. I think he could handle 1X. 2X and 3X are a little advanced for him. The radial lacing on the fronts should be a piece of cake for him.
Now....if I could just get him to talk...
BTW - he uses drool for nipple lube....don't take that out of context please.

I hope they don't find out about the leg shaving :roflmao2:

That is lighter than spoke prep, isn't it?

Concerning thing is that I weighed everything before assembly and it was the same weight as after assembly. This would be after the addition of prep and a small amount of oil. I guess prep is like antimatter.

crosspost to the did you ride today thread
Tuesday Night Penny Road Ride. The usual 28.4 miles of drafting the fast two riders just to hang on. And we slowed down to a crawl at the stop signs.
One driver hollered at cyclpsycho to remember to stop at the bottom of Haeger's Bend. And there was even a B Hills police car in the lot at Penny Road when we got back giving us outlaw skinny pants wearing punks the stink-eye. Hey, we did pretty well, officer, thanks for asking!
It would have been nice if he had driven over (or heaven forbid walked over) to the group and just said "hi" to us to see how things went out there as we were loading rigs and getting regular shoes back on. A little positive interaction goes a long way, IMO.

nice to finally meet you and put a face to the name.
It would of been nice if he came over to see how it went out on those dangerous streets of his fair community. Maybe he was thinking " Could I look that good in spandex or would I look like a moron?"

I know one that can beat me up hills.
I know one that can't.

I take it that means you are working with him. If so follow my instructions:
1. Nail his feet to the closest heavy pbject.
2. Fill his bibs with lead shot.
3. Remove his seatpost and fill his frame with lead shot.
4. Disable his front derail and adjust the limit screw on the rear so that he only has his small ring big cog combo that works.
This won't slow him down enough, but it might make it so that I can hang for 11 miles.....

So they couldn't just leave the old one on until the new one comes in?

to make a long story short, bob was having a hard time getting my old saddle back into the seatpost, and was starting to get pretty busy, so i was nice and told him to just keep my bike until the new one arrived.

May not be necessary. I had one of those "island in a sea of incompetence" days.:mad:
I may take matters into my own hands.:mad:
I may just leave my bike in the car and go straight to the bar (no rhyme intended).:mad::mad::crash::twitchy::notamused:

Tonight was my first ride with the group. I had a leg cramp and was dropped somewhere on Plumtree (I think). I shot past Ridge and saw the group down the road on my right and had to turn around to go down Ridge. From there I lost the group and continued down Ridge and Sutton back to Penny Road Pub. I was told the ride is approx 26 miles and logged about 20, I knew I missed a turn somewhere. It was a good ride and I'll be out there again!!

Good ride last night! Even with the conservative warmup down pothole alley (Penny Road) and the more emphatic stops (hello John Q Law, we see you, too!), this was the fastest pace I've ever done out there. 28.4 miles in just under 1:18:50. The cyclometer says that's 21.5 mph average. That's zany fast for my skinny legs.
Hanging on to the back of the faster folks was a chore and I had to work pretty hard after yo-yo'ing off the back a couple of times. Psimet can attest to that, as he heard me wheezing my way up Braeburn. I don't have an HRM or other device to measure physical exertion, but I think I was into some sort of red zone. It was fun.
Glad to see a few more wheels out there, too.
