I was just pm'ing others to see if they were going. I will most likely be in.
I'll hang at the back, get my butt kicked and then drop off when the road turns up....as usual. This week I'll have a map.
The rollers will feel like nothing after New Glarus! :)
6:00 at Penny Rd Pub. This is Cyclpsycho's group ride. Only one rider from their "A" group last week. Show up by 5:45. I have a route I can link to. Feel free to drop off the back whenever....so I don't have to ride alone.:D
i'll do my best to get there on time. i'll have to leave work a bit early, but it shouldn't be a problem.
CyLowe was implying he might want to rollout earlier than 6. I have to leave work in Aurora to get there on time so too much earlier means that I become part time.

well i dont really want to ride unless its with you guys and colorchange...
Well, last week there were big clouds off to the west and we cut the ride short (skipping the second 'loop'), but if the sun is out a 6 pm roll out would be okay.
Plus, it's a week later in spring, so that's like 9 more minutes of daylight, right? :)

Awwww.......
well i don't want to just be that random guy that shows up. "Hey guys! Let's ride bicycles!"

Hey, that's basically what I did the first time I showed up to the Tuesday nighter.
There are usually a lot of riders, some go out earlier and others stagger out onto the roads. Psimet and I showed up and rode with a guy we have never met. No one else was there by 6, so off we went. And we got our hides handed to us. The other rider was FAST! It was humbling and fun all at the same time.
We dropped into the pub post ride and got to know a few others who had been riding. Good time.
also, the temps are supposed to be upper 40's. knickers or tights? sort of in-between temps for me...
OK, I'm in for sure. I'll be there a little early. Upper 40's knee warmers, lower 40's light tights for me.
If we're going to have a beer I'd better drive over so I have someplace to put my bike.
i'm going home now to get my bike and gear. i'm in for sure as well.
Upper 40's you say? Hmmm... that's right near my cutoff point between sleeveless and short sleeved jersey.... what to do, what to do?
Okay, it's decided: Full tights, long sleeve jersey, defeet blaze wool socks, cap under helmet and wind vest. I'll be good to go with that.
Temp is at a wierd spot for me. Lower 40's = setup I wore this weekend (just look for any of the pictures of me suffering off the back of the crit on Saturday :( ) Upper 40's to 50's and it's knee warmers with arm warmers and vest.
Link to route map.

my MotionBased link as well for last week. As you can see we cut out the second short loop.

Wussies!
Hey, we carpooling?
Wussies!
Hey, we carpooling?
Yes...yes you are...I mean yes we are....
Gonna head home early and try to fix my cadence magnet situation.

what car are you guys driving? just park in the penny road pub parking lot?

Go back to the gravel lot behind the pub. You'll see other cars with bike racks.
Driving my Impala - crap colored. Go figure.

LOL! That's funny.
The wife is at a meeting -- hope she makes it home in time for me to make it! Otherwise, its baseball practice with me boys.
great to see everyone along with meeting some new bfnic'ers. nice route with some decent hill climbs.
definitely do not have my 'summer' legs but it felt good to get out and ride with a group.
here's my ride data:

Avg. Heart Rate 170 bpm *maxed out at 188* (lol sam, lol)
rob, here's the link to my motionbased data so you can export. let me know if you need a training center file...

We had a really nice ride. Unfortunately, the pizza and beer afterwards made it a net loss night from the fitness standpoint, but a nice gain from the social standpoint. ;)
I haven't downloaded my data yet.

tim, what was the long polar device mounted on your seat stay? is that the speed sensor?

It's the black box. He's required to carry one now since the NTSB got involved.
Sam, batteries for the power meter (which sits on the chain stay).
Psi, how the heck did you find out about that?

Neits,
Our data is in agreement in some areas, but off in others. Distance is poor at 29.1 miles for me and 28.6 for you. Climbing is also off: I got 1,260 ft and you got 1,592 ft. Speed is exact.
Hmmm... anyone else? Maybe I'll check my calibrations.
Psyco, Cylow and Psi, did you guys get data?
I forgot to hit start on my Garmin. :( = no usable data for me.

tim,
the only thing i can think of that explains the difference in distance is that you rode past the pub at the end while rob and i didn't. i'd probably rely more on the garmin elevation data as it's recorded by my altimeter and then adjusted by motionbased according to their maps...
and nice avg power output! what's the margin of error on the polar power units?

were you able to use my motionbased export files?
I blame ColorChanges extra mileage on the fact that he was riding circles around the rest of us. ;)
Distance: 28.4 miles
Time: 1:25:41. This is ride time only, as the time will stop when not in motion.
Avg ~ 19.8
This is from a lowly Trek cyclometer, but it has been known to be fairly accurate, if not a tick on the low side when it comes to distances. And for what it's worth, I stopped my data when I got to the Pub, so the little cooldown 1/2 mile is not part of this. Yes, sometimes I am vain and don't want to slough off the average speed with a cool down. :) So this may account for CC's extra distance.
were you able to use my motionbased export files?
Yes. I'm just taking data and putting it into Bikewire.
i see right through this and cant believe no one else has! this is an obvious attempt by CC to fabricate awesomeness. he has programmed his computer to read more distance into a ride. this way he is always in front. distance wise for each ride and the year!!!
or not. back to my coffee.
later.
Neits, ah ha ... that's the distance difference. Good. The ascent on the Polar is not as accurate and I believe your numbers.
Here is a detailed review on power meters (older Polar).
http://www.biketechreview.com/archive/pm_review_2.htm
They conclude the following:
The Polar comparison indicates that there is a general decreasing trend over the power spectrum, which means that the Polar consistently under-reports power relative to the SRM as power output increases.
From Polar, they say 5%
Technical Specifications
Operating
temperature: 0 °C to +50 °C / 32 °F to 122 °F
Batteries: two AAA type batteries
Battery life: average 50 riding hours
Accuracy of power
output measurement: average ±5% (range 50 - 1000 W)
So since the accuracy drops above 1,000 watts I just trained myself not to push so hard anymore.
Cylowe ... didn't I see you in front of me at the finish?:p
Ahem ... I would never fake awesomeness. Especially when Recursive might be around. I'm still a "Peddlewan Learner".
statistics aside, this was a nice effort you all put in. i am still having a hard time getting out of bed, walking up and down stairs, squating, and so on. :)
man, i think i need a ride. my awesomeness is getting restless.
later.
O.K. my Flight Deck:
1:24:33 -- ride time only - stops when I stop. I also start and stop at the Penny Rd/Old Sutton intersection.
28.54 Distance
37.8 Max
20.2 Avg
Sorry, no fancy graphs
Thanks Psycho.
OK, I think we're all in pretty good agreement. My avg speed is lower and distance is higher as I included the cool down.

Slacker.
I might be in again for tonight. Anyone else?

You might be in again after last week??? You are the MAN!
I may be in, but not the whole route. Been sick since Saturday (no, I'm not sandbagging). Definitely no post-ride carbs for me, for sure. :(
i'm up for it. funny how much difference in temperature a week makes...
