besides the size of the wheel and tires, does everything else just fit universally?
i have a Gt bike that uses 20x1.75 and they match up with the wheels im looking at.

If you frame has 3/8 axle slots (which it most likely does) then they will fit. what kind of riding do you have planned for the mags?

They should be good then. Just be carefull if you start learning 180s/360s. I destroyed a set learning those back in the day.

Match the axle width to the dropout width or you will bend the spindle.

im not sure what you mean by this.
do you have pictures or a website that demonstrates this?

What he means is that if the washers on the axle are farther apart than the inside of the dropouts are wide, when you shove the wheel into the smaller opening and tighten the nuts, the axle will bend because it doesn't fit in the space of the dropouts. If the dropouts are too far apart, you will either bend the dropouts in and/or bend the axle the other way. Look at it like this, your foot's the axle and the width of the dropouts is the width of your shoe. If your foot's too big, you will damage the shoe and your foot. However, if your foot's too small, you need to grow into the shoe. Since axles can't grow, they and the dropouts are contorted. This is a crude analogy, but it works. To remedy the problem, add washers or replace the current washers with smaller ones.

how about doing wheelies? will that damage the front wheels?
ChristAir
04-30-08, 08:47 PM
b3nsonx, it depends on your weight and how "hard" you are on your bike.
b3nsonx
04-30-08, 09:04 PM
i weigh 120 and im learning my wheelies right now, so sometimes i would kinda slam the front tire down because i cant control it.
so i guess i wont get these wheels until im done abusing my current ones :D

Don't worry. I weigh in at 160 and I have never warped ANY mag wheels by slamming the front tire doing a wheelie. Bunny-hop are a different story though.

Come on guys, at least say manuals. Wheelies are a little too [insert negative adjective here] for this forum.
ChristAir
04-30-08, 10:42 PM
Wheelies vs. manuals, whiplash vs. tailwhip, stoppie vs. endo, chainring vs. sprocket, etc. When replying to posts, you should always speak on the other person's level. This person prefers old school terms and there is nothing wrong with that! So stop wasting server space complaining.

Yep, more know-it-all complaining. "Say manuals," "STOP asking about a new bike," whine whine whine. It's horrible isn't it? A bunch of braggarts wishing the only thread was "Bike Checks" so they could brag. Oh well...

sorry, i only said wheelie because i thought "manual" is for skateboards, lol
plus im a BMX noob :D

You're fine. "Wheelie" is old school. "Manual" is new school. A lot of people don't like old school. I don't mind, as long as your riding, you're not a noob.

A 'wheelie' is not a trick.
A manual actually takes skill and patience.
'Wheelies' are for people who have no idea about bmx and want to sound cool.
I'm guessing, the same kind of person you are.

05-01-08, 12:34 AM
Nah. Ask your folks. In their time, a manual is a type of trans. Haha. You're hilarious!

Yep. I'm guessing you're young because you obviously don't understand old school tricks. The kind your dad did before you were born.

I'm 17 just like you.
I know what a wheelie is.
I know that no matter what era you are in, it is not a real trick.
It takes no skill whatsoever.
A manual on the other hand, takes skill, looks smoother, and can actually be used in combination with other tricks.

SORRY! I didn't make my self clear. I meant bmx2478. Sorry again. You're fine. A while ago, some guy named Mude started saying there are too many newbs in this forum. Now, the "Corrupted?" thread is in these forums. Bmx2478 is one of the people who are ticking me off with their "newb" nonsense.

Anything.
What can you do?
ChristAir
05-01-08, 12:55 AM
Not too much now. One-handed, one-footed, x-up rear peg stand (not all at the same time of course). 180 rear peg pivot, sometimes a 360. Trying to get a 180 hop. I could do better last summer before I went to college (which stinks), but I'll have the summer off after tomorrow. See "Stupid Crashes" to find out why I don't hit my only ramp.

Maybe. I have balance problems (learned to ride at 9 and actually started really riding at 13-14). But I'll get a pic of the x-up into the "Bike Checks" thread.

05-01-08, 01:00 AM
lol, i was just on youtube and now i know the difference between manual and wheelie.
wheelies they're pedaling to keep the front end up, but for a manual, they just hold that in mid air
ChristAir
05-01-08, 01:04 AM
Depends on who you ask. Rider will make minor pedaling (i know that sounds stupid) and hit the brakes sometimes to balance. I call it a manual, but I was tired of people treating you like a noob.

ChristAir, post your x-up into the 'stunts and tricks...' thread.
