Road Cycling - Kickstand for compact frame?

hi everyone!

I picked up my new OCR2 today. Awesome bike...too bad I couldn't get out for a ride tonight but we had other plans. Can't wait for the long Holiday weekend!

Does anyone know if it's possible to put a kickstand on this bike? They told me it can't be done well because of the position of the rear tire. Also, hard to attach the hardware to the alum frame without damaging it.

Suggestions, please?

Why would you need a kickstand?

Nesdog...kickstands don't do to much, they even help keep the bike upright all the time. Worse they can cause "bad things" to happen. Learn to prop your bike.

What "bad things", I thought a kickstand was a person choice?

the traditional kickstand that mounts just behind your bottom bracket probably wont fit, but there are what are called "rear mount" kickstands, something like this (http://www.greenfieldny.com/chart_bicycle.htm#stabilizer). one of those may work.

everyone here has to be a jerk about things whenever someone wants to do something that isn't "right" by their standards. ignore it. it's your bike, you're the one riding it. sometimes people here seem to have a hard time grasping that concept.

I saw a friend of mine put her kickstand into her rear wheel. Blasted a few spokes and nearly dropped her in traffic.

Geez, I didn't expect to get blasted for posting the question! Sorry if I offfended any of you hot shots!! I can learn to lean the bike. It's not that big of a deal but in light of the fact that I'm now upgrading from my 30+ year old 10 speed to the Giant, I just assumed that we still put kickstands on bikes.

A kickstand is a no-no as you can tell by the responses, but it is still perfectly acceptable to clip a baseball card on your bike so it hits the wheel causing it to sound like a motorcycle. :p That will never go out of style!
