Spoke broke ALREADY?!

Seriously?! WTF!? The wheel set on my MTB/Commuter has already blown a rear spoke..! ARGGGHH!!!
The MTB is currently ruining/running X317 rims on XT high flange hubs. This SUCKS! I do my best to post over bumps and such but some of the concrete 'lips' on the MUP I ride sometimes are pretty brutal. Like 11/2" high! I'm guessing thats where the problem started...I really need to find a solution for this. If things don't mellow out, I'm switching to stainless spokes. I'm using the alloy spokes that came with the unit...yet another source of issues I'm sure. At least next week I'll be running a new Surly suspension corrected fork and maybe sport for an even longer than 130 front stem with mary/gull/dirt drops (undecided as of yet). What a Franken Bike! I'll make sure to have a friend take pics when I get some of these issues taken care of...

Now I'm paranoid about the new rear wheel on my single speed. That bike is running an ENO hub on a Sun M13 II rim, stainless spokes. Its a touring, eyeleted rim. It's pretty narrow but handbuilt and BEAUTIFUL! (Fingers crossed I don't blow out the single commuting to work!)

Did you have the wheel retensioned after 300 miles or so?

Actually, I had planned to take them in and have it done this Friday! That would have put me at 300 for the set.

300 miles? That is too early. Who built the wheel? They should stand behind their service at this point. Especially if you didn't hit anything.

Now I have to tell you people about this Ban Guzzi guy. Yes, he did break a spoke, but it was on his carbon Pinarello! He posts in this forum because of a delusional state induced by too much purple dye in his Mohawk when he was in high school. He is actually 5'6", 135#. He is such a fanatic about weight that he has a carbon cap on one of his teeth. Those studded tires he ran last winter? Carbon studs with carbide inserts. His shorts are carbon and spandex. He wears only vintage Tour de France jerseys from the '40's and '50's.

That fixed-gear Panasonic? It is actually a steel lugged Colnago from 1982 with Campy Record components. Everything else he has posted is true.

Oi! You! Back to work! Although the bikes you point out are VERY nice! The carbon tooth cap was a nice touch...

I must point out, the wheels blew another spoke today. They were a factory build so the shop is calling the Mavic Rep to see what the heck is going on. Sounds like I'll get a handbuilt rear out of this, at least. They are just as mad as I am...
