Texas - Southlake independence ride weekend

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A new road ride is coming to the metroplex, it supports the independence fund, and is not just a 1 day ride> On Friday night Sep 12th there is a concert that your entrance fee will get you into staring Gary Sinise, and I have heard there may be a few bigger country stars ligning up. The ride will have Apache escort and will have many wounded vets leading it off.

If you watch the video 2 of the highlighted people we meet on out WWP ride in March, Kevin and Charlie will hopefully be at this ride as well. Their story is amazing and the independence fund helped both of them get back on their bikes.

Also if you know of a company or high roller who would like to be a sponsor and help stage the event they need your help. Just follow the link at the top of their page.

Indeed, I may be down with some surgery by then, but if not I'll add it to my to-ride list.

Yes, I think he has a band called the Lt. Dan Band or something like that. Cool huh?

Sounds like a fitting community tribute...but the event organizers need to correct their web information. The AH-1H is a "Super Cobra," made by Bell Helicopter here in Texas. The Apache is an AH-64, which along with the Chinook CH-47, are made by Boeing.

make sure it gets put on the bicycle stuff calendar. Wish I could be there. I'm going to Utah for a 500 mile race.

I'll take my Navy machine out that weekend for a good ride, even though I can't be there.

Please post up a route map to the ride site... this is one thing that I always look at when deciding to attend or not.

No map = no Creakyknees.

I suspect others feel the same...

Second...come on. It's not that hard to pull a route map together in a pdf file and post a link on your website.

Just sayin'. ;)
