"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Greenbelt Series?

Going to be in MD for work not far from the where the Wed Night Greenbelt series races are held. Is it worth it to make the effort to hit one of these? Do the fields usually fill (1/2/3)? If it's a crappy course that usually fills up I probably won't fight the traffic to get down there...

it won't fill up and is definitely a great venue and well run series. totally worth the effort.

I'll be there for the C race, fighting to hold on as long as possible.

100% agree. The 123 race is very fast, very hard, and a GREAT workout. Josh Frick, David Fuentes, Ramon Benitez and Dave Osbourne (look them up, they've got enough results to turn in a big google search) are frequent participants. I get down there and do it any chance I get, but can't get there more than a couple/few times/year. Wish I was going tonight, it'll be a great time. With the Crystal City Classic on sunday, there might be some really big boys in town who could make this an epic greenbelt night.

last year, it was jittery joes. they toyed with us until they got tired of recovery riding, then they with Josh Frick in tow took off to only be seen again with the post race bagels and nutella in the parking lot.

Any ideas for biking up to Greenbelt from downtown DC? I've looked at the map and nothing seemed promising.

I'm not in the area anymore... but I bet if you called out on the MABRA listserv some R1V folks would respond and offer to have you join them. There is usually a small contingent of riders leaving CapHill around 4:30 or so.

Funny you should mention it. If im not mistaken the NE Branch trail goes right toward it. Do a google search for Washinginton DC trail network. A good trails site comes up top.

I was looking for a route to Arlington from Annapolis so I can ride my bike to the Crystal City Classic on Sunday moring.

IMHO, the ride there is a GREAT warmup for the race!

The parts on the trail are okay, but the ride through the city can be way sketchy.

Where can I get more info on this series? Like a address and time and such. Sound like I may need to come down from Jersey for one of these.

Greetings --


The 2008 Greenbelt Park Training Race Series begins this week.
The weather forecast for Wednesday looks great, and we are ready
to rock. All of your favorite amenities from previous years,
including DrinkMore water and Bagel Place bagels, are back for
2008.


On race days, if the weather is sketchy call the new hotline at
301.220.1253. There will be a message to give you
up-to-the-minute on/off status. We will endeavor to make the
decision by 4PM if we have to cancel, posting to this listserv as
well as the hotline.


If you haven't done the race before, allow yourself plenty of time
to get to the Park -- evening rush-hour traffic is bad and getting
worse.


Online registration closes at 6PM Tuesday, but will re-open at 8AM
Thursday morning for the following week's race. Go to the BikeReg
calendar page:

This takes you to a sub-calendar where you can select either the
4-Race or Season Pass options. When you come to Greenbelt on
Wednesday, come straight to the Park; your voucher will be waiting
for you at the registration table, and we will print a
signature-ready release on the spot.


We also have on-site voucher sales available for those who prefer
it. On-site sales open at 5PM in the parking lot behind T.G.I.
Friday's, across the street fromt the Park entrance. If you need
a 1-Day or Annual license, you need to visit on-site sales even if
you register online.


For those not registering online, please consider filling in the
release form in advance at your computer, printing, signing, and
bringing with you. The only exception is that Juniors must have a
parent or guardian present at the race to co-sign. The form is

We will be checking release forms for completion and legibility
before you can buy a voucher; filling the form out on your
computer in advance is the best way to get there. One release is
