Road Cycling - Where do I get 165mm cranks??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a short rider and have ridden on 165mm cranks for many years. I'm currently building a new bike (w/ Dura Ace) and I'm having a hard time finding 165mm cranks. Why are these manufacturers not making 165mm cranks? Can anyone steer me toward a site offering DA 165mm cranks 9-speed Octalink for a fair price?
Thanks.

I don't know running price on Shimano Dura-Ace cranks so not sure how their price compares..

If you can't find Dura-ace cranks check out Specialities TA. I use their 165's with my Campy Record. My shop ordered them from Peter White Cyclery. I like them better than the Shimano cranks.

Peter White says he sells cranks in that length - and shorter and much much longer. And its an interesting site to browse

I too am a short road bike rider (4'8"). I currently have the 8speed Campy Record components on my custom made bike (Banke), but wish to move to the 10speed. Any ideas, suggestions on the smaller crankset set that Campy does not make?

Unfortunately, things haven't changed much in the last couple of years. I'm building a custom frame and intend to use Campy Record with Specialties TA Carmina, unless my shop can come up with something else. Lennard Zinn, "Zinn and the Art of Bicycle Maintence" fame makes small cranks, check his website.

I'm an advocate for shorter cranks for those with shorter legs and use custom engineered 140 mm cranks myself. It can be hard to come by shorter cranks although my view is that the benifit of the right sized cranks FAR outweighs any quality bennifits of expensive cranks that are too long. While your considering new cranks it could be a good exercise to go to http://www.cranklength.info and see what size it reccomends for you.
