I moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast last July, almost two years after Hurricane Katrina leveled most of this area. Along Highway 90, which runs along the coastline, there were a lot of live oaks that were killed because of the storm surge. For about the past year, two artists have been turning the dead trees into sculptures using chainsaws (and they look awesome!) Well it turns out that at least one of the "dead" trees is showing signs of life (http://www.wlox.com/global/story.asp?s=8246482). It's a small thing, but it is a sign of hope and renewal. :)
