Looks like the ride is different this year. Instead of using the park east of town as the rest stop (and the ride being various loops starting/ending at the rest stop), the high school is going to be the rest stop.

Sorry TZ, I was pretty much destroyed by the ride. Older guys much faster than me set a pace that I couldn't deal with, especially w/****ty nutrition. Wind was deadly. Back started locking up on me severely.
I bailed after the second loop and got home. I had a function to get to afterwards also.

The ride itself? I liked the route, there are some pretty steep grades hidden in the second loop, and the wind made it all pretty rough. I did hear one rider say that it was possibly the worst organized/executed group ride he had ever been on. There were not very many riders. I enjoyed the snacks they had, we only got midly lost about twice.

My friend got the dates mixed up aqnd didn't show. I didn't leave until about 8:15. I did loops 1 and 3 (66 miles). 3 had some good hills. There was plenty of wind.

The turnout seemed lower than in the past couple of years. Maybe the high winds kept people away.

Roads could have been marked better, but other than that I thought it was fine.

Looked for your car, saw it was gone already. Figured you had had enough.

I rode all three loops, my wife rode two.

I was disappointed with the central rest stop idea, the purpose of an organized ride is convenient rest stops. Having to go almost forty miles before a stop is inconvenient :mad:

The roads were pretty good, and I had no problem with the markers, however the wind later in the day was brutal.

I only saw a handful or riders the entire day, and never saw SAG support.

The best part of the day was stopping at the Brat Stop on the way home :)

Heard the same about the distance in loops between stops. Imagine what a novice on their first longer ride might think... it wasn't a suprise though, it was well announced.

I would also like to double the SAG mention. They claimed there was... did anybody ever see a support sweep???

Richard Schwinn was driving SAG. I spoke with him a couple times (stopped me and took my picture), but maybe that is a perk reserved for Waterford riders :)

I don't mind the central stop, probably done for logistic reasons. This ride has always seemed to have less workers than other rides I have done, perhaps the actual number of club members is quite small.
