Prepare to Ride - Jumpstart Your Cycle Touring Plans
Tele-seminar - December 3, 10, 17, 2003
Wednesday's 7-8pm (Pacific Standard Time) --- Can't make it? Get the tapes! (Go to the Bottom of the page for tape info.)
Greetings!
I am not a bike mechanic and I have never ridden 200 miles in a day... but I have spent 26 months traveling through 20 countries (US to Panama, Ecuador - Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Japan, China, Nepal, India) on a bike. And I won't bore you with never-ending ride stories you don't want to hear. But here is what you will get...
In this 3-hour (over 3 weeks) seminar your will learn:
· Methods and tips for planning, and gearing up which can save you time and trouble.
· One question that can find you free lodging in small town Mexico, allowing you to feel at ease far from any tourist town.
· Two habits for securing your bike which can keep your bike from riding off without you.
· Find out why 2 sleeping bags can be better than 1 and can save you pannier space, money, and add comfort even on cold nights.
· Discover what gear to put on your holiday wish list and what to leave off.
· Learn Experientially - Customize your homework with our "buddy system" so that you can apply what we covered in class during the week. Making progress on your own plans can make this class really fun because you come out with results.
Week One, Dec. 3: Why by bike? - Where to go? Know how to respond to the doubters? Learn where the sweet spots are and where to avoid for your own good.
Week Two, Dec 10: The Bike and the Gear - Outfitting for various types of rides so that you can be prepared with what you need for your specific ride.
Week Three, Dec 17: On the Road - Heaven or Hell on Two-Wheels - Some tips towards Heaven.
***On the last night of the class, December 17th, we will spend an extra hour for questions and answers related to your rides, so you end up getting a double class that night! As an additional bonus we will be joined by Portland, OR bike shop professionals to give us additional up to date gear details.***
