Well today was the day. I got off work at 5:00 drug in all my parts at 5:05 and had my single speed cross bike built by 7:45 just in time to get kicked out of the shop at 8:00 . I started w/ a Schwin hybrid, took off the crank arms through on my old bmx racing Bullet Proof 175mm 42 tooth sprocket crank arms. Took the rear wheel off found out it was a freewheel so I had to grab a new wheel for the shop ( I totaly forgot to look for a used one) slaped on the single speed kit (I went w/ the 16 tooth sprocket) wraped a chain around it spaced it out and wah-la. For bars I grabed an old pair of drop bars and an old specialized road stem and slaped them on there. I needed a new seat and seat post so I grabed and old bontrager that I had Laying around the house and a shock seatpost I had laying in my tool box and put them on. And for a brake I took the v-brake off the same bmx bike I got the crank arms off of and put them on. I'd have to say its a bit of a spectical but the gear ratio seams good for now and I can always up grade later, and its main purpose is to be riddin on the towpath so I think Im going to be pretty happy w/ it. I'll try to get some pics. oh yea thanks to all the people who helped out w/ all the questions I had.
