oooooook so i never thought I'd be posting to an entire forum about this, but i figured the only people that might understand are cyclists! (and doctors). Sooo after my long Sunday ride, I noticed a 'rash' on monday where the rear of my thigh (hamstrings) meet my glutes...at first it was a little irritable to sit on, but that went away. It was a lot of tiny little bumps, and I thought it would go away, but today it looks like its spread up to my inner thigh getting near 'the boys'!!!! Its not really painful..just itchy! I spun last night on my trainer, and maybe this contributed to the spreading. any ideas????? Are there any creams or ointments I can rub on it? again, its a lot of tiny little bumps...looks kinda like when you have goose-bumps on your skin. could this be saddle-sore-related? I ride a lot and this is the first time ive ever gotten something like this....maybe something in my shorts....ahhh help!!
I dont have time to go to the doctor this week at all either :(

serious question... does it have any sort of scent?
I guess some fungal rashes like that get a scent to them. (and require a certain cream or spray I think)
I dont really know much about that stuff... maybe try to guess what type of rash it is and get the proper cream for it.

nope, no scent as far as I can tell....just lots of little bumps, and a slight redness. I found myself scratching the crap out of my inner thigh as I slept last night. do you think gold-bond might help?

Sounds a lot like something in your shorts. Have you changed laundry soap recently? My kids get a very simialr rash (small bumps, redish rash) if we use the wrong detertgent on their clothes. Typically the rash forms where the clothes are closest to their skin. Bands in underwear, elastic in socks, etc., etc.. It get's even worse in the winter when the furnace is running without a humidifier. Dryer sheets are another culprit, so scent free at our house, along with an extra rinse cycle. Sounds like a change in soaps if you have never had a rash before due to cycling.

Hey what you been riding? bikes or some skanky ho**? Seriously...1.Do you wear cycling shorts? 2. Do you shower soon after rides? 3. If using cycling shorts do you wash after each ride? If you answered yes to all of these I would recommend going to a physician to rule out staff infection or shingles..the sooner the better..good luck

Yes, I wash my bibs after each ride. I'm going to try some cortizone type cream to get me through this weekend and if it doesn't heal by Monday ill go to a doc.
