Yes this is a weird observation, however is it my imagination or are there an unusually large amount of cyclists that also play tennis regularly? I see quite a few mentions of tennis on BF's but also see the corrolation at work amongst the cyclists. Just me spewing out thoughts in a half awake stupor :o

I don't see it here. I'm pretty involved with both. I've been playing tennis since I was 5 yrs old (we didn't have a swimming pool in the backyard growing up, we had a tennis court!) and cycling for about 4 yrs.

I think they're really complimentary! Tennis is very high impact, where cycling isn't. And besides...when my shots can't find the court, I'm a cyclist. When I don't have the legs and fall off the back, I'm a tennis player! :D

Got a clay court in the backyard. It needs some TLC, my bikes are well used.

Been playing tennis since I was 9 or so. I actually don't see that trend around here. None of the tennis guys I hit with ride.

I know quite a few cyclists, and as far as I know, not a single one of them plays tennis. Myself included. Last time I played at all was in school, 14 years ago...

Negatory here. I tried tennis when I was young, but I didn't find lasting enjoyment. Everyone else was either way better than me, or way worse, and it was a perpetual massacre. It's been over 25 years since I swung a racket. Likely I won't ever do it again.

I haven't played tennis since college, I love playing it but I can find anyone else that does, guess it requires to much movement.

Note: Playing tennis on the Wii doesn't count although it is fun :)

I am fan, but I don't play much anymore, it is definitely somehting I have considered looking into as a "second" sport. Everyone out here plays, and no one plays football, so I need to find a happy medium.

I wonder if tandem riders can only play doubles?

I really enjoy tennis, but don't play regularly enough to be any good. I'll say this for it; it's a lot less expensive hobby than cycling (assuming you don't count the CC membership).

I really haven't noticed the correlation though.

I'm a casual tennis player. Used to be really into it, but now it's something I do once or twice a month during the warmer months.

The trouble I have is finding a partner to play with. Wait....that's kinda' my problem in general!:p

Tandem, fixed gear, doubles tennis--instant youtube classic.

Or sidecar doubles! You still have your sidecar?

I have heard skiing-golf-tennis.. Not Biking-Tennis.

Oh yeah!
Helmets would be required. Few things are as dangerous as a hopped-up, competitive, sidecar monkey with a racket.

I used to ride 16 mi RT to play on my HS tennis team. There was no other way home after practice--this was a rural area--so the bike was it. I kept playing in college, though I play only occasionally now. It's the only sport I participate in besides cycling.

I started at 9 years old and pretty much levelled off with my skill at that age ... and trust me that's not a good thing. You were lucky to have your own court ... I'm jealous  :D

Waaaay cheaper. I'm on the executive of our community club and we only charge $110 for an individual membership. Can't beat that.

Kinda +1 to what Skinnyone said...but, more like a correlation between skiing & cycling.

When i lived in Ireland, i played every day, and played club at a pretty high level. When i moved to a crap small town in saskatchewan, i didnt play for over 7 years, which kinda sucked, but i got back into it after that. In my last year of University i won my intramurals Singles/Doubles title :D

When I'm down in Regina next time we'll have to have a game ... yes you'll kick my butt. However I'm always up for a challenge. I get down at least once a year. Our company does quite a bit of work for Sask Power.

It's about 60 years old.
A lot like having a pool in the backyard. A whole lotta work for a couple of hours of use in the summer.

Absolutely man! Although, im not too sure about me kicking your butt.. 4 months after i won my tournaments i had surgery on my back, and havent played competitively since, just bashing around with friends..

Saskpower eh? Haha, my local pub is half a block north of the saskpower building :)

So yeah, next time you're in town, give me a call! Plus, i'll have to introduce you to spud my JRT.
