What are braided spokes? I have never heard of that.

just a showy set of wheels were spokes are wraped around each other in patterns

The wheels I've build were done with spokes 3mm longer than what would have normaly needed. They were twisted where they would've overlapped.
Your other option is to use a spoke thats pre-twisted....
