Hello people, for couple of days now I was looking for a nice electric bicycle that looks like a scooter, however I heard a lot of bad reputation of current models. First I was interested in X-tream XB 600 (then I heard it falls apart very quickly), then I saw Volteq's commander SHO750 but again, heard some bad reputation about this company. I haven't found any other better companies so far. Maybe the fact that these 2 companies are Chinese is the reason they are so poor in quality. Is there any other good companies that sells e-bikes (that looks like scooter) that are better than those two? (And please not Chinese companies).
Thank you

Most e-bikes and motors are made in China I'm afraid to say, but on the good side is that China also make some of the good quality hub motors also.
You get what you pay for. Take the scooter for a ride before you buy and go directly to a hill to climb, this will instantly tell you lots about the bike.
Avoid scooters that are under $700, you will end up buying "land fill" then your still without a bike, and broke.

Often the best deal is to convert a comfortable bike and retrofit the hub motor and batteriy to fit. Some bike stores will do this for you.

edit: for better english

I would recommend converting a strong mountain bike into an electric bike. There are a plethora of websites that sell hub motors that replace the front or back wheel of the bicycle, and are powered by batteries you typically mount on a rear rack. I have a goldenmotor front hub that works incredibly well.

There are also crank motors that attach to your gearset. They are more intricate to install but they are also another way to go if weight is an issue as far as front/rear hubs are concerned. There is a sticky in the E-bike forum about reputable e-bike websites. Do a heavy amount of research, ask for feedback and opinions and you'll make a good decision for what suits your needs.
