New Jersey Trail Access Crisis Looms

IMBA and the Jersey Off Road Bicycle Association (JORBA) are calling on New Jersey mountain bikers to help reverse possible state park closures. Governor Jon Corzine has proposed closing nine state parks and reducing services at others as of July 1st, 2008 in order to save $4.5 million, as part of an overall $2.7 billion package of proposed budget cuts.
Take Action! Tell Governor Corzine and your state legislators that state park closures are unacceptable. A final decision has not yet been made, and your action could help keep the parks open.
JORBA has a strong presence at several state parks, and members volunteered more than 5,500 hours in volunteer trail work in 2007. Parks proposed for closure include Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Stephens State Park, High Point State Park, Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, Round Valley Recreation Area, Parvin State Park, Jenny Jump State Forest, Worthington State Forest and Fort Mott State Park. Partial closures could affect Ringwood State Park, D&R Canal State Park and Washington Crossing State Park.
