Just plain Ibuprofen works for me. For headaches I like BC powder.

I've heard that fish oil supplements have good anti-inflammatory properties...and they most likely won't tear up your gut, liver and kidneys, like the NSAID's will.

I'm a fan of going natural if possible: Try curcumin (turmeric) powder. A good excuse to spice up dinner - or breakfast (I put it on my eggs).

This one works. And take extra after a night of Don Julio...

The most effective over the counter anti-inflammatory you can get AFAIK

For me, it's plain old, ordinary aspirin. The only thing I get out of Aleve is longer pain relief, and ibuprofen works exactly the same as aspirin for me. Of course, others' mileage may (will) vary.

Considering ibuprofen is more potent, i tend to doubt that you see the same effects at similar doses, and since aspirin is so hard on the stomach...i'm not sure why so many people still turn to it as a primary pain reliever.

It's true that ibu is more potent, but only in terms of dose-response (it takes fewer milligrams of ibu than ASA to obtain the same pain relief), but don't kid yourself- ibu is very hard on the stomach! And, for those of use over 40 or so, it's important to note that ibu will cancel out the effect of low-dose ASA. That, and the fact that ASA is cheaper, add up to it being a very efficacious (and effective) NSAID. Also, people have different responses to COX-1 NSAIDs (ibu, ketoprofen, ASA, etc.)- a lot of this is very qualitative, based on patients' subjective response to pain relief. That said, if ibu worked better for me than ASA, I'd take ibu.
