Where is Brown's Valley? Do you pay California gas prices?

Brown's Valley is outside of Yuba City/Marysville.

I don't live in California, although the rest of my family do. My husband's mum still lives in Yuba City.

I pay Washington state gas prices--not as bad as California, but bad enough! And man, you are WAAAAAYYYY out in the boonies!

Welcome to the forum.

"Red Neck", huh? My cousin lives in sem-rural Oklahoma and I suppose by most standards would count as a redneck. I saw him a couple of years ago for the first time in ages. He tells me, "You're putting on some weight there. You should do what I did. Just get an old bike and ride around every day for an hour or so." So here I am. :)

I ride mostly road bikes, no racing though. Most of my bikes are to be found in my signature, although my newest bike has still not been added :o .

The 'signature' is what you see down at the bottom of my post. If you click on the Vintage Bicycle Liberation Front, it will take you to my website for my bicycles :D .

PM means 'private message'. To send me a PM, you would click on my username, and a menu shows up with various options. Click on the Send Private Message.

Who does my maintenance? I do :D !

One of my road bikes is built from a 1970's Raleigh frame that my Dad raced back his day. I stripped it down repainted it and found some semi authenic Raleigh decals on ebay. I put on Look carbon forks and carbon drop bars, all Shimano 105 componets and Mavic wheels. It was my full time bike for a while until I got my new Trek last February. There is a different feel to the older style geometry bikes, but each bike has it's own feel. Do you have any of your bikes set up with special gearing for any particular riding?

No, no special set up, just what they came with as (mostly) original equipment. They do all have a different feel, which is one reason why I have so many!

Do you have a photo of your Raleigh?

Did he pass away recently? I found his web site a year or so ago and e-mail him a question about BB sizing and he gave me a difinitive answer quite fast. I told him I like his helmet too. What a neat guy and what a VAST knowledge of Bicycles. And what a passion for cycling. I'll take a look at your web site. Thanks again for the chat !!

Yes, sadly he passed away of a heart attack in February. He was a member here, and fondly remembered by all. In fact, the icon by my name represents 'Igor', the mascot on Mr. Brown's helmet. It's given to anyone who has made a charitable contribution in Sheldon's name...
