I hit 200 after I quit wrestling...about 22 or so. I stayed 220ish through my 30s, 230ish through my 40s until this winter, when I caught myself at 250! Back down to about 240 now...decided to get back into racing this year as motivation to drop back down to 220 or less.

Graduated HS at 195-200 (the end of lacrosse season=fit)
6 mos later after 1st semester of college 240 thanks to pizza and beer (and beer and beer and beer...)
up and down from 210 to 250 for the last 23 years
the "downs" - 210-220 have all been thanks to cycling.
242 now and will be 220 by September in time for charity tour

I had a girlfriend who knew the key to a man's heart. I was 19 and just graduated HS, passed 200 and figured it was normal for a 6'1" guy. Now I'm working on getting back to 180lbs.

Finished highschool at a lean 230lbs... 270lbs now and nothing is lean. Hoping cycling can help me drop 40lbs and then we'll see where to go from there.

When I was in high school, I was always doing stuff and working. In college, I was walking all over campus every day. Then I started in on an office job and I would walk 50' from the car to the office and that was it. Poof. Clydesville.
But wait, isn't 6' Clyde status, too? (I don't see that listed at the top of the forum, didn't it used to be there?) Anyway, that was about the end of 8th grade.
at 6'4" my lowest weight was like 185lbs, but I was just too darn thin. I always felt best at about
205-210lbs. over the years (47 now), lack of regular exercise, and ESPECIALLY stress added the lbs.
sure, i could have ate better, but stress makes you eat comfort food. In addition, I had a few REALLY
stressful periods where the level of stress cause me to drop lbs in no time, only to add them back times
two in no time as well. and those never really came off. there were about 3 of those events in the
last 15 years, and each one was worth around 10 lbs addition.
I am now at 265-270 range. I hope, after getting my new recumbent and some back issues resolving
themselves, to get to 235 or so...

Somewhere around 27 - 28 yrs old. I think it was the year before my wife got pregnant. She had two kids within a couple of years and I never lost my baby fat. She lost hers pretty quick, its so unfair.

At the end of my freshman year of college I was 6' 1" and 172 pounds. I crossed the 200 pound mark at 22. I gained a fairly consistent 10 pounds per year until 33. That left at 329 this passed January, when I said that enough was enough. I am trying to roll back at least 10 years in 2008. I am four years in at this point.

I don't remember exactly when, but I was definitely above 200 during most of high school, probably peaking at about 220 my junior year. During the summer between junior and senior years, I lost a ton of weight -- mostly by a) not eating much, and b) biking a lot.
When I graduated high school I was about 6'2" and 185 pounds.
I know I'll never see 185 again (with the muscle mass I've added over the past few years, I'd need an amputation to get that low) but I'd love to see 220 again, hopefully by the end of this summer...

Within the first year of marriage. I had an exercise physiologist tell me a few weeks before I got married that the average sized male gains 16 lbs during the first year of marriage. I was ultra-fit at 185 lbs and thought it would never happen to me. I was 185 the day I got married... 201 lbs (clyde status) on my first anniversary. 23 years later... I'm still a clyde (225 now... down from 240)

Probably on and off from 8th grade through highschool but I was 178 after graduation. I lived on pot pies and such, cheap ones until I was 301 twice and managed to drop as low as 201 after which I headed back up and have been 269-289 since. Part of the weigh loss was because I learned how to cook from Mom and my Grandmas and part of that was how to make something from whatever you were given and because I jogged and ran the high school track, working up to 26 non consectutive miles a day. I let go in the fall and even with smaller eating habits I let it go south. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 1995 and since then have found it harder to lose weight. Meds? Some of it.
About 6 years ago, when I quit smoking at the age of 28. I put on almost 40 pounds from it. Right now I am at 209 from a high of 218. I intend to be under 200 by june. Hopefully around 185-190 sometime during summer, then maintain it.
At age 13 I reached clyde height - 183cm - and shoe size 13 (49).
Didn't reach clyde weight until in my mid 20s.

Most of my adult life 5'9" 160-185 lbs., then at age 42 in 2004, went completely tobacco free and promptly ballooned to 230 lbs. Started biking again in 06 and quickly got down below 210 but bounce between 202 and 215. I have re-arranged my eating habits, have a metric century May 10, and am currently at about 201-202 so I think I'm gonna bust that 200 lb. mark real soon. Maybe next week!

I was a clyde at about 12 years old probably by weight. I got to 250lbs and lost some of it. I don't know when I quit growing, but I am 6'5". I remember passing size 12 shoes when I was 10 years old! (Wear 16-17 now)
I was a fat kid and I now see in my daughter someone who doesn't eat crazily, isn't sedentary, and she is gaining weight faster than she should. This pattern seems to be a bit preprogrammed (no excuse) and despite working with her on it, it is still tough for me to watch.
I flirted with being just under 200 in late high school--chasing girls, skipping meals, etc. College was rough...lots of food, computer networks to play on, got married and ballooned up. Got a job, went to grad school, and probably got close to 400 lbs, but I never got on a scale that could weigh me until I got back to around 350 where I am now.

In HS I graduated at 225 (6'2") but I was fit. After HS I tried to make playing ball my living which didn't work out so I went into the military. Their highest weight for my height and age was 204lbs. As I didn't want to use their tape guide I cut the weight and felt and looked sick, probably because it was a rapid loss just to make weight. After the military college came and I got out of that about 230lbs maybe carrying 10lbs too much. Marriage and the first child, then the weight showed up, muscle mass went down.
So I'd say the weight started to go up around the age of 26. I've never got it down to where it should be but I have lost up to 20lbs here and there only to put it back on over the winter, etc.
I was a fat 13 yr old
And me. I think I probably hit 200lbs at 14 or 15...

Height wise I think I hit 6' at about 15 or 16. Weight wise I hit 200 around 19 or 20.
Heaviest I've been is 245 and I'm 6'2" now. I started working out in November of 07, getting a little more into my cycling, and made some changes to my diet and I'm now around 220. Trying to lose more of the fat I'm doing weight training so I'm not so concerned about my actual weight. So far so good!

At 6'3" thats not hard to do. I was 18 years old, getting ready to join the military and I was already 195. I was skinny, but I had a little bit of fat around my waist that folded over a few times when hunched over and I thought I was overweight then! I thought, maybe in basic training I will get in such great shape that I would have a 6 pack again. I did not gain/lose a pound. After I went to tech school I pretty much stayed the same weight. Then at my first duty station I hooked up with a buddy that was already very muscular and I wanted to gain weight desperately so we started eating and lifting big. He gained all muscle. I gained some muscle, but a lot of fat too. For 2 years I was gaining weight whether I was lifting weights or not and by the time I left Germany I had gained over 25lbs at 220lbs. I decided that was my max weight in the military so I needed to lose in order to stay in the good graces. I lost about 5lbs and was at 215 for a while and decided to get back into weights again. I slowly gained muscle and fat until I got to 230lbs 6 months later. Then I met my future wife. I met her at 230lbs and 3-4 months later I was 250lbs. I went to Saudi Arabia for 3 months and came back at 265lbs. I immediately went on the Atkins diet and lost about 15lbs. From there I was on the weight managment program for the rest of my time in the military. I got down to as low as 242lbs but from there, I could not make any more progress and lost my promotion. It all went down hill from there. Before I got out of the military I got up to 265lbs again. Then started working out at 285lbs. Gained a quick 10lbs and have never looked back. I got up to as high as 322lbs but the last time I weighed myself at the gym I was 305lbs. I guess thats what being a broke student and not having any food in the house or money to buy food will do to you. Now I am buying a bike once I get my student loan check and I hopefully will have great success in losing my weight.

I hit clyde status upon completion of college, went in at 170lbs came out at 201 3 years later. Ballooned up to 240 thanks to beer, chinese buffets, and large amounts of Bacardi 151...ok, not really a large amount because you only need a few shots of that to be flying high. When you figured out alcohol ratio to dollars 151 is pretty darn cheap (and flammable too).
Presently down to 216 as of Wednesday at the doctors office, emeritus is in sight!
I was over 200#s in high school (15-16). Lost weight through dieting (no exercise to speak of) at about age 17. Entered the army at about 195 at age 17. Got down to a low of 167 which on my 6'2" frame was extremely lean. I had less than a 28" waist.
Over the next 15 years or so, I gained 6-7#s a year, it's insidious. I didn't notice 5, 6, or 7#s a year (or chose not to). You begin to hide from cameras. In my late 30's I was mortified to see myself as over 280#s. This was after I had lost weight by dieting. I know I was pushing 300, but I refused to get on a scale. My 46" waist pants were getting tight. I was buying 2X shirts, and refused to tuck them in.
I am around 265#s right now. Most importantly, I have lost 4 belt notches and my clothes are too big for me which hasn't happened in years.
I don't know if I will ever be below 200#s again. I would sure love to be. My goal is to get into the 250s over the next month or so. Downward from there.
Good thread...

I weighed 154 pounds at 18 when I joined the Marines. I weighed about 175 when I got out of boot camp. 21 pounds of muscle added in 3 months, I started slowly gaining weight, and weighed about 197 when I got married at 24 years old, and shortly thereafter also got out of the Marines. I gained 10-20 pounds a year (as an estimate, since many years I didn't even weigh myself) until I hit about 421. I lost 122 pounds to 299 and I have gained back to about 350, and am determined to lose again...

I don't remember exactly...let me rebuild and project...
140-145 lbs at graduation from HS. Very fit.
175lbs by Christmas break Freshman year. Still quite fit (guess I should have gone out for football afterall :D)
I remember 186 lbs at 22 and about 230 when I got married at 27.
So, I'm projecting that it was right around the time I graduated from college or during/after my first year at my first job out of college. That would put it at probably about age...
25-26 or possibly as early as 24.
Reached my max (around 250) when I was about 29 or so as a guess...
I'm now 6 pounds away from hitting that Christmas break freshman year weight again... Yay!

Yeah me too. Graduated from HS at ~225 (1994). Got to college and started bike commuting and I have not seen the top side of 200 since then. I have been able to stay ~160 since I became completely dedicated to cycling and its benefits. I am also 6' 2".

Prior to 1999 was under 200 lbs, ex jock and working as a soccer ref in too many games a year to count. Spent 1998/99 on a 1 year contract job in Florida living in a hotel.......................wow 240. Didn't change calories in to match calories out. Started biking in late 2001 and got back to 200. New England winters are the end of me, back to 220 now and will spend the summer returning to 200 (190 goal). At age 62 the weight gets much harder to remove.

Senior year in HS for me. I was running cross country on the HS team, skiing x-c for Kneissl in the winter, and racing tri's in the summer. That was also around the time I started lifting weights, and I went from 195 up to 215 pretty fast while staying fairly lean.
Now I'm working on getting back down to 220 from a max weight of almost 270.

I was a fat kid too. The first time I hit 200 lbs. I was around 13 or 14. Got involved in theater (behind the scenes stuff) and dropped down to 150 lbs. at 15. Slowly crept up till I hit 200 again at 20 and, up till this year, had been slowly but surely increasing every since. Topped out a bit above 240 at Christmas but I'm now down to 222.

I hit "Athena" status very early in my life. I was quickly approaching the 200 mark, by the 8th grade! I was, hands down, the heaviest kid in my school...and being a girl, made it all the more difficult and painful. My teen years weren't much of an improvement...hovered close to 200 throughout high school. Finally topped out at 215 just after high school graduation. From that point on, it's been a constant battle. I'm currently at 142 with 20% bodyfat (and at age 42, in the best physical shape I've ever been in), but mentally, there are days when I still feel like I'm 200. I don't think I'll ever be right in my head with regards to my weight. It's the whole "negative body image" thing, that I struggle with.

when I was age 22... I was super skinny as a kid- I was 6'3" and under 160 when I graduated high school. I kept wishing I could gain weight... I kept wishing I'd win the lottery as well... unfortunately, only one of the two came true.
Now I'm 6'3" and 260. Unfortunately, my ankles, calves, and wrists are still about the same size as when I was skinny, so all of my weight is carried in my mid section. Hopefully I will get back down to 200- I like being a clyde, so I'll make it a point not to drop below 200! :D
I'm thinking around 12 years old.

I think I went over 200 going to college. I wasn't far off in high school in the 185-195 range. I slowly got up to 240 lbs, then went on Atkins and dropped to 205 lbs in slightly over 2 months. I then had surgery and after three weeks in the hospital fell to 188 lbs *had nothing to do with the Atkins diet*. Afterwords slowly gained again and found myself at 240 lbs again. Later on I got the flu and lost about 10 lbs, so I decided to keep at it and started drinking diet instead of regular pop and lost another 10 lbs, then just started eating less and later on riding my bike and fell to about 195 lbs. Since then I've stopped counting calories and didn't ride my bike because of winter and I'm currently at 205 lbs +- 3 lbs.

9th I was 115 and was varsity wrestling, starting offensive and defensive lineman and ranked well for my weight class in judu. Very very active all the time rode my bike everywhere etc.
Pre 10th grade needed ankle surgery and was banned from gym and riding my bike to school due to discovery of marphans

Must have hit 215lbs at the start of high school, and 280lbs towards the end of my high school career. 228lbs now, and 1 year from graduating my university... I wear the same pant size as I did in middle school, a loose 36. I hit the gym 4-5 times a week, and ride my bike on weekends, and now I want to get down to around 200lbs; that would be my ideal weight (ie six packs just showing, but still huggable).
Cheers!

I graduated from high school at 203 pounds. That was after five years of working on a dairy farm and riding my bicycle everywhere I went.
I got out of basic training weighing 198. 19 years old, 1984. That was the last time I was sub-200.

Not sure exactly, but I was a 215 lb HS freshman, so probably @ 14. I haven't been south of 200 since. Currently @ 333 and trying to drop below 300 for the 9th or 10th time. At least I have cycling going for me know. All the other times I didn't have an aerobic exercise I enjoyed. I am going to keep at until I get it right.
