Road Cycling - Mario Cippolini Pro's

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just replaced my axial Pro's. One of the complaints I had was the frequent flats. With all the advice here and the LBS, I settled on M. Cippolini Pro's with Armadillo technology. They are a bit heavy, but look nice. Has anyone had experience with these tires? ;)

I'm using them now. Have about 600 miles on them with 1 flat so far (and that was mostly my fault - wasn't paying attention and rode thru a patch of broken glass). I really love them. I used to ride the Armadillo Turbo Pros and I actually think these are a bit lighter than those, but they are probably heavier than most tires. I think they have a bit less rolling resistance than the turbo pros I was using. Also, Specialized says these new tires will last longer than the turbo pros. That was one complaint I had about the turbo pros, my rear tire only lasted about 1500 miles... and the front about double that. Plus I think these new tires look better.
But the ultimate bonus is the lower amount of flats you get. I talked to one of the guys at a LBS and he had never seen them, but after we talked about them for awhile he really thought they made a great training tire.

I have a set on order from Specialized but are on back order. getting a good deal on them only reason why I ordered them! I heard a lot of good things about them plus they weight less than the Armadillo Turbo's. I am using the Armadillo Turbo pro's right now but I have the same complaint they seem to wear out to fast. I did get almost 2500 out of my rear tire but I rode it till the rubber was peeling off. Not a good thing.

I have 2 sets of them, they are very lasting, the back one lasted 7000km and there is still life in it maybe another 2000km, I have moved the front one to the back and it has done another 2000km. MAybe I will get 12,000km out of that one.The Armadillo works as I had only a few puntures and now again I picked out glass bits embedded in it.
Michellin Pro Race feels better but only lasted around 3000kms.
I will put back the old tyre and see how much I can get out of it.

I have had the same mileage from my Pro Race tyres. I now have a Pro Race on the front for better grip, and a Conti GP3000 on the rear for better durability.

I...M. Cippolini Pro's with Armadillo technology. ...anyone had experience with these tires? ;)
If these are the same as Specialised Armadillos then yes; started April '02 home-work 30 mile+ round trip, 3 punctures so far, 1 by 3/4" steel screw, one with steel nail, one ordinary (on the *first day* of a new tyre to replace a worn out one!). Used to average about 1 every 2-3 weeks....
Useless for racing, too heavy, completely dead.
