Touring - Sorry to bring it up, Novara Randonee

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I searched the forums, but it seemed like people were asking more about lighter tours with the Randonee. So my question is how would it hold up on a cross country trip, fully loaded with front and rear panniers. I'd like to just stick with buying a complete bike if possible, so will the Randonee be able to hold up or would you recommend going with the LHT?

I would take my Randonee cross country.

I wouldn't hesitate to go cross country on one. Longer tours don't require anything different bike wise than short ones. I carried pretty much the same stuff to do the TA that I would to go for a few days.
The Randonee has equal stuff in some parts and better in many, as compared to my Windsor Touring. Our group rode three WT's across the US and they held up great. The Randonee should hold up as well or better.
Slightly OT, but the Randonee is now 15% off until May 11. Can the membership dicount of 20% be applied on top of that?

You can try, but I doubt it. The coupon clearly says "Save 20% on one full-price item".

the 20% off does NOT include ANY bikes if you read closely. Also, only applies to regular priced items I am pretty sure.
However, two weeks ago I returned some shortsI used my 20% march coupon on, and they let me put the coupon toward a Randonee that day for 20% in mid april. I love REI, and plan on taking that bike on the whole pacific coast tour
My Randonee has done very well on long trips. I rode over lots of dirt roads in Texas while pulling a BOB trailer and the bike did great. After a year of riding I have replaced a brifter and a chain. I love the Randonee.
