Cyclocross - Lemond | Trek Litigation & Warranty

I am on the verge of purchasing a poprad and am wondering if any of y'all would know if the frame warranty will be covered during/after the litigation is over?

I have been debating over the JTS, Poprad, and La Cruz, but I'm hard set on steel.

Ask the dealer. I was wondering the same myself but I am guessing that Trek would warrenty it if they sell it too you. Let us know.

Just got back from the dealer and they advised the lifetime warranty should be considered as a Trek warranty. So if there is a warranty issue/claim, take it to a Trek dealer.

For those looking for a poprad in either disc or canti, they are out of the smallest size available, it appears the 55cm has the most in stock at the warehouse, so if you've been looking to get a new one, you may want to consider it before theyre sold out.

Anyone know if these are beginning to be discounted yet, in order to clear all Lemond inventory out of Trek dealers? I just ordered a new bike, but am curious as to the degree of price drops that the Poprads might see. My guess is not much.

From the msrp, it's not much, for me it was either the la cruz as i mentioned or the poprad, since their frames are similar excluding the geo, the poprad was the economic choice for me.

Keep in mind that the Poprad sitting in the shop before the litigation is the exact same bike sitting there now. It's till the same quality--don't try to shortchange your LBS because of corporates inability to get along.

I bought a different bike, but please don't act like the local LBS is some charitable organization that needs our help to stay in business. If your local car dealer said this is the last day we're selling VWs, would you be eager to buy a Jetta from them? Or if Best Buy suddenly announced that Olevia was not producing anymore TVs, would you expect to go out and pay full price for one, knowing a warranty'd unit was bound to be a completely different brand and model?

Bottom line, discontinued is a blessing and a curse- why shouldn't the customer take advantage pricewise, if a certain brand is likely to be supported less and less in the future?

I see it as for a store there is quite a marginal loss for them that they can barely recover. It ends up being put on the close-out stock. At which point the stores know that they have a loss-loaner (a product that they sell at a profit loss to loan into the purchase of other items) and maybe expect that the customer will buy other items to go along with the close-out item.

I dunno, but that's how I see it.

Trek told everybody to close them out. Dealers should be getting kick backs for every Lemond they get rid of. As it was said before warranty is still good for the life of the bike.
