Bicycle Mechanics - calling GXP BB gurus...

I did a group swap (Ultegra to Rival) on my aluminum bike about 300 miles ago I just started to get some BB creaking when I drope the hammer.

Before I installed the cups, I cleaned the threads to super duper spotless and assembly lubed everything well but not overboard. I didn't tighten the cups as hard as I could have because I was afraid to over-torque but I whacked them down pretty good, or so I thought.

Should just I pull the arms and re-grease, re-tighten or should I pull the cups and do that, too? Any thoughts much appreciated.

I'd remove the cranks, tighten the cups a bit if possible, then relube and reassemble (don't forget the BB spindle splines and threads).

Another thing with the gxp set up is that the drive side bearing floats on the spindle and the spindle has a step on it to butt up against the non drive bb bearing. So sometimes on first install you have to either overtorque the left arm on or pull it offf and re grease and put it back on. But in your case I would check the bb cups are torqued in also.

if re-grease and re-torq(use torq wrench to spec)doesn't help,
I would get the bb shell faced.
