Sup?

Im a first time biker and I want to know if the Raleigh Ambush is a good bike to start off with and to keep for a long time. Thanks!

P.S. All I do is city/small park riding. No drops over a foot or so...

It seems like it would be fine. If your not going to ride hard, then I would say go for it. Next time providing a picture of the bike or the parts spec would help so we dont have to go search for it, since I am sure not one of the thousands of people here know everything about that exact bike. :D

Would the raleigh ambush give more comfort and superiority over all of the department store bikes that are around the same price. I've heard Zellers and those places have dual shocks and stuff but I don't know if its going to be better than a solid raleigh ambush...Can someone help me out?

Any bike sold at Zeller's is a piece of trash.

My gut says: Go with the Raleigh. I've had great experiences with the company, and Department store bikes, especially full suspension bikes there, tend to be cheaply made and exceptionally heavy. You should get the bike that's the most fun for you to ride. Eventually, I promise, you'll become addicted and upgrade. However, right now, get whatever is the most fun.

See, right now, I don't have a lot of cash to spend. About 345 canadian, and I want to buy directly, not from ebay. So, theres a cyclepath store near my home, and theres also a canadian tire. Since, I can't upgrade and I'll be buying a new bike in about 6-8 years, should I get the raleigh for not only durability , but fun, or should I just go for the fun and don't care if it goes down on my third year of use?

the best place to buy a bike is from an LBS with a good reputation.

I'm sure they will give you a great deal. Since 2004 bikes will be out soon, the 2003 bikes will be sold cheap. Don't limit yourself to reliegh.. There are lots of bikes out there that gives great value.. try looking at fuji, trek, jamis, specialized, etc.
