Where along a sloping top tube is standover height determined? Is there a set method for this, or is it wherever the manufacturer decides to measure it? I'm too lazy to check any of the manufacturers' sites to see if they specify this.

that's how giant measures it

edit ... you got me curious now, so I pulled out some catalogs.

giant uses 12 inches in front of the seat tube and gary fisher uses 8.25 inches in front of the seattube..

Trek and titus don't list how they get the number in their catalogs. that's all the catalogs I have laying around, and I'm too lazy to google for you.

so I guess it's just another useless number which varies among manufactures..

edit edit ... per kona the respone is "We measure where you'd naturally stand over the bike so the aprox middle of the top tube." aka useless
